Or OUR standard of living will fall too. **Q: does anyone have a great recipe for kettle corn that works on this Great Northern popper?** A: I just made kettle corn with my Great Northern popper last week using the following recipe and it turned out fantastic; without the burning that many people complain about. 2 Tablespoons regular olive oil or vegetable oil, 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter, 1/2 cup corn kernels, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/3 cup sugar. Heat the oil, butter, salt and sugar over medium heat till hot then add the corn. When the kernels start to pop start turning the handle and continue until the popping stops. Pour into a large bowl and break up any large clumps. Be careful because the corn will remain very hot because of the sugar. Enjoy! **Q: Is the pot stainless steel or just the stirrer** A: With all due respect to other reviewers, and a half-century in engineering, this popper is 99% "stainless steel". The handle and crank knob are wood, the two gears are zinc casting alloy, and the four rivets and pin (opposite the crank) are aluminum. That's why it's not 100%. I'll also add that "stainless", "surgical", "food", "aircraft", etc. grade steels and/or aluminum, are only advertising terms, not technical terms (although even engineers are known to use them). Another point is that "stainless" steels are actually called Corrosion Resistant Steels (CRES), and they can and do rust, making the term "stainless" totally inaccurate. **Q: I have a glass cooktop. Tried different heat settings & popcorn but still have lots of us popped kernels. Any suggestions??** A: I have found that a recipe of 50gms Orville Redenbacher popcorn + 10gms Olive oil on med heat (#6 on my glass top) and seasoned salt to taste before popping - works every time.
