Since this is a "Travel" game, can all pieces be stored under the plastic lid? Does the lid stay securely in place when packed for air travel?

I have the game and love it but for the life of me cannot figure out how to get everything to fit properly back in box, anyone else have this problem?

Put the paper in first then squirrels. Make sure none are on top of each other. Then bag of balls. It's will all fit.
