First, you need to know that this bottle will last you for a very long time. You use only about ten or twelve drops once a day, under your tongue. When you look at it that way -- amortizing the cost over most of a year -- you realize that this source of vitamin D does not actually cost you very much, after all. I am now working on my second bottle of the stuff, and I consider it money well-spent. Because, secondly, you need to know that this vitamin D really works. I think researchers are just beginning to learn about all benefits of vitamin D to our bodies. Since I have started supplementing with these drops, I have caught many fewer colds and flus than I used to (and I used to catch everything -- absolutely everything -- that was going around), and the few colds that I have contracted have affected me much more mildly and more briefly than they used to. (Colds and flus used to knock me out for at least two weeks each time I caught one!) Thirdly, you need to know that few of us get enough vitamin D without supplementation. (In case you didn't know, we normally get vitamin D from sunlight on our skin.) To verify this for yourself, go to your doctor for a blood test to get your vitamin D level measured. You will, most likely, discover that your body is trying to operate with dangerously little vitamin D. My doctor did that for me, and found that I had an alarmingly low vitamin D level. And I probably get more sunshine than most people, because I ride my bike everywhere! Still I was, obviously, not getting enough vitamin D. Your doctor, if she has been keeping up with the research, will tell you that vitamin D actually functions as a hormone, as well as a vitamin, in our bodies. It mediates many essential functions -- not only vital calcium absorption, but also immune and metabolic functions, as well -- that are crippled without adequate vitamin D. Finally, don't succumb to cheap vitamin D supplements. I tried that, too; and I discovered that, not only did they not work, but, also, that my body could not tolerate them (they put a burden on my liver). This form of vitamin D -- ergocalciferol (vitamin D3) in sublingual drops -- works best for our bodies. I highly recommend this product.
