Zoo Med New Zealand Sphagnum Moss

I got this, last year, to use in some of my plants. I've actually gotten it a few times. You don't get much but, it is so clean! It is so soft!! It holds up incredibly well and stays damp for a long time but, no mold! I needed to make moss poles so, this was WAY too expensive. I went with a brand marketed for plants, specifically orchids. It was on the recommendation of a friend who grows houseplants to sell. While it's a substantial amount for about $6, it was completely full of sticks and such!! I hate it! So! I'm coming back to this. I won't be making poles with it but, it's PERFECT for doing a moss and chunky perlite mix, in small, clear pots for my baby/young airoids and alocasia corms!! I do have snakes. If I needed moss for them, I'd get this in a second!! I only wish this came in much a bigger amount.

My Hermit Crabs really enloy their Moss basket. This seemed to hold up better & refreshed easier than some other brands I have tried.

Just good Moss. I taped half of the box so it wouldn’t fall out of the sides because you know it’s moss easily sides through the cracks of the box, gecko loves it. It goes in his humid hide. Does last for a few months before you need to change it really. Good stuff.

The moss really brought the terrarium together. Warning to amphibian owners, they can accidentally swallow this. That happened to my tree frogs. I recommend to only use for reptiles and perhaps bigger reptiles. The moss does last though, even when misted with water.

Perfect nesting material for my leopard gecko's hide. Must saturate with water to keep moist and check daily but so soft that I feel better knowing my pet is comfortable. Lots of content for the money. Looks natural and thankfully not painted. I would recommend to other gecko owners.

This has been a great moss. I bought this to put in my leopard geckos rock hide. He was having a hard time shedding but since buying this he goes inside and hangs out for days at a time. He is looking less “foggy” since he is able to shed better now. No odor at all. This has been such a huge help. Great quality.

I've been using this for my venus fly trap. It's my first time owning VFTs and of the two I potted, only the one with the sphagnum moss has flourished. I bought some soil specifically for carnivorous plants along with this moss and planted one fly trap in soil only and one with mostly moss mixed with soil (what was left over from the first pot). The soil only one is now dead (likely not the soil but my inexperience), whereas the moss pot grew new traps and is looking healthy. It drains well and stays moist throughout the day. Even with my ineptitude (I cared for both plants the exact same), the moss kept my plant alive.

I had no fungus gnats but then I started seeing fungus gnats after using this moss for my jewel orchids. My other components were rehydrated, compressed coco coir and perlite which don't bring fungus gnats with them, so they likely came from this moss.
