The Comic Book Story of Professional Wrestling: A Hardcore, High-Flying, No-Holds-Barred History of the One True Sport Review: Informative and entertaining to casual and hardcore fans alike! - As a professional wrestling fan for over 30 years and since I was 5 years old, I felt there wasn't too much I didn't know about it. How wrong I was after reading this! Sitterson gives an intuitive and remarkable history lesson into the origins and inner workings of a genre long looked over by the general public. His words accompanying Moreno's vibrant illustrations suck you into the fantastical and, often times, controversial world of professional wrestling. The Comic Book Story of Professional Wrestling is just as informative as it is entertaining. Whether you're a hardcore fan, a casual fan, or someone who doesn't watch but wants to understand it's popularity, I highly recommend this to you or any other fans you may know! Review: Fantastically Written, Beautiful, and a jam packed read - What I love most about this book is how condense and smartly structured it is. When it comes to the history of Professional Wrestling a lot of myths and historical gaps are throw in the common knowledge of this mysterious and misunderstood genre of entertainment. This book does a wonderful job parsing out and giving a pretty solid through line through important moments, personalities, and timelines. The book smartly breaks downs the eras and personalities that lead to why as the author claims that Professional Wrestling is "The One True Sport". It also allows a person for whom is not a fan to get a understanding of the complexities of its history and cultural importance. It's also an absolutely gorgeous book. Many of the panels would look great framed and on the wall of any professional wrestling fan. This is the perfect book for any fan that is fascinated and wanting to know more and get a fleshed out history of Professional Wrestling. Highly recommend to fans and non fans alike.

The Definitive Dream Match-Up of Graphic Novels and Grapplers
As a lifelong fan of both comic books and professional wrestling, I can honestly say that I have never seen a more well executed marriage of these two distinctly American genres. I quickly lost count of the number of times I caught myself smiling and nodding along as I leafed through these vibrantly animated pages. The art in the book is fantastic and the attention to historical detail is exceptional. The Author and the Artist must have culled over volumes of historical visual reference to present this as authentically as they have here. The writer does a fantastic job of balancing history, nostalgia and commentary, in making what may be the most satisfying "history" book I have every read. I also really appreciate that this was not done with the cooperation of any major professional wrestling organization, leaving the Author and the Artist to provide this unfiltered and unrefined history of the sport. I give it my very Highest Recommendation.

Over all good but lacking in key aspacts.
Definitely an excellent book but if you're interested in getting into wrestling and it's history I would recommend this as only a starting point as it misses and dosent talk about some figures in wrestling history and breifly goes over major parts of wrestling history aswell. Also this book has become mildly dated and misses peaices of recent wrestling history and news. Again this is a great starting point. Also people who already know the history of wrestling may find this book fun as a read and to look at the art and may even learn about something they didn't know about like I did with the early days of wrestling that are talked about in this book. And for comic fans this book dose have good art and I think it's a decent example of historical comics it is lacking in some aspects in particular the artist clearly reused assets multiple times throughout the book like re using the same picture of a wrestler over and over again. In the end I think that this comic is pretty good for starting out wrestling fans, just good for wrestling fans who are already familiar with the history and for comic fans a fun read but could prove to be irritating or boaring. In total I give it 4 stars

A Five-Star Frog Splash of Comics and Wrestling
I've loved professional wrestling and comic books since I was a young child and now that I'm an adult child, this book was pretty much the perfect thing for me. Aubrey and Chris tag-team to take readers on a crash course through wrestling history, revealing the background and origins of the phrases I see people use on Twitter all the time. Wanna know what kayfabe means? Interested in learning about just how exactly the WWE got so freaking huge? This book will take you by the hand, whip you into the ropes, and gently dropkick you in the face with an enjoyable blend of sequential art and history lessons. Perfect for any fan of pro grapps and funny books.

Awesome comic/history book!!
I haven’t read a comic book in years!! But if you want to travel through memory lane and relive your childhood wrestling memories, this is the book that gets it done. The writing from Aubrey guides you through the history of wrestling and gives you many “ohh now I get it” moments. The artwork from Chris is superb and super cool. I would definitely recommend this comic book to all OG wrestling fans and the newcomers who want to delve into it. All around great work, keep it going guys!!

Great book on wrestling! Must buy for wrestling fans who want to know the history!
The book gives a very good history of the origins and the early part of wrestling and the major figures who made it possible to survive. It also mentions all of the major promoters who were essential in making Pro Wrestling a part of not only the American way of life, but the world's too from wrestling's inception to the modern era. While the book mentions some of the wrestlers who died way too early due either mental issues or drug usage, it doesn't go into a lot of detail on that subject. But overall this is a GREAT read for anybody wanting to know more about the history of this "one true sport"!

Great illustrations and linear story of the discipline that we all love from when we were kids till now. Useful for long time fans and also for beginners who want to know more of why the business right now is how it is. Beautiful and accurate in every part, loved the parts dedicated to briths, mexican and japanese wrestling.
