The strobe option is also a great distraction or emergency function, it would honestly blind someone if they were for example heading towards you and you wanted to give yourself time to regroup or get away. It emits plenty of lights. After you switch it on, you can press the on-off switch half way momentarily and you can change the 100% brightness to 50% and to strobe. The strobe could temporarily blind anybody, so be careful with that. I bought rechargeable D size batteries and it works nice with them. I expect the battery life to be excellent. (3x1.2V=3.6V, 10Ah cells makes about 36Wh, so if it is 6W LED on max brightness, we would discharge the batteries in 6h.) The torch is solid and heavy.
