Love the belly. Very sharp o.o.b. Easily made a razor. Good feel in the hand. Have the 10 inch loved it. This one didn't disappoint. At first got them for tasks that I didn't want to punish the thinner, harder, possibly damaged blades on my 240 and 270mm Japanese laminated blades. Some say their hardness makes them prone to chipping. So didn’t experience that and didn’t want to.The 1905’s hold up well and stay sharp despite abuse I don't subject the others too. I’m starting to baby them too. Really like their looks and feel as well as performance.I got a cheaper Chinese Mercer Renaissance and Dexter iCut Forge to fulfill the abuse role. They perform above their price point so that’s very pleasing. As for being made in Taiwan and not Germany. I have the F Dick German made 8 inch Premier Plus. It can't be made any sharper than this knife and it doesn't noticeably hold it's edge any longer. It's a workhorse too but I can't say it's a better knife. I actually prefer the 1905.

Absolutely Superb.
This knife is considerably heavier than other 8-inch chef's knives I've used in the past, and that's a good thing for me. I enjoy the heft, and I find it much easier to work with when I have something with a lot of weight behind it. Granted, this might not be for everyone, but it works for me. I also really enjoy the curve on this one, as it seriously lets me cut with a rocking motion much easier than some other knives I've used. Some people have remarked on the sharpness, but I repeatedly hone mine after usage and haven't had any problems whatsoever. It still feels as sharp as the day I got it. I use this knife every day and I haven't been disappointed since I got it.I also really love the look and feel of the handle - it feels natural and the metal rings really catch people's eye.So to sum up, the knife looks great, and cuts even better than it looks.

Modern steel in a vintage 1905 wrapper
Fast shipping on a well priced F. Dick 8" Chefs knife ... fresh out of the box showing ultra sharp blade, excellent overall finish and unique vintage appeal. The F Dick is pictured here next to a classic Wusthof 8" showing moderate blade length, shoulder bolster and belly differences between the 2. The balance on the Dick is perfect and I am looking forward to building out a set to hand down when I am done cooking. Robb

It's an excellent sharp knife.
This knife is out of the box sharp and a joy to use. I prepped everything for Christmas with it and it's the best knife I have ever owned, at an affordable price. I'm a short order cook at a restaurant, and this was my first proper working knife, and was tired of using the beater "house" knives. If you are reading this and think I am exaggerating, at one point I was careless while slicing bread for stuffing, changed the song playing on my phone, and forgot to re-curl my fingers back and took the tip of my pinky finger off including half the nail, and if I hadn't seen it happen I honestly don't think I would have noticed it until I saw the blood. Didn't feel a thing until about a half an hour afterwards. Clean cut, no tearing.I love this knife and am excited to (CAREFULLY!) use it for years to come.

Excellent for a chef who likes some heft
This knife feels fantastic in the hand -- very heavy, with a strong curve for people who like a quintessential european chef's knife. Great for rocking on herbs, etc, and large enough to handle large chopping jobs. The weight and the size make it tough to use for detailed work. I loved this knife so much that I bought the utility and paring knife in the same line. They, too, are excellent. Arrives with a fantastic edge, so, so sharp!

F.Dick is the BEST knife in the world. German Perfection at its Best!!
F.Dick has done it again. They took the traditional and made it better. This knife is 100% perfectly balanced. Super sharp. Easy to sharpen, and holds its sharpness as long as any other knife. The handle is flawless and perfectly seemed. I have owned professional Japanese knives, and other professional knives, such as Wusthof, and Henckels, and these are hands down the best knives that I have ever had the pleasure to use. Unlike the other knife manufacturers who market 100+ varieties of pro kitchen knives, F.Dick only makes one professional series, which is the best, highest quality on the market. Ask any chef what they think about Friedr. Dick, and they will tell you, either I own one, or it on my list as the knife I'm going to buy. I love these knives, and for at home use, this knife will last you the rest of your life. It is that good. Take a chance, trust me, and purchase this knife in either 6", 8", or 10", whichever you need.
