This rolled collar looks great on my Australian Cattle dog. I gave it 4 stars because it was extremely stiff when it arrived and did not sit well on her fur. So we soaked it in some Olive oil in a plastic zip lock bag for about 3 days to speed up the breaking in process. Its much more flexible and so much softer. Because the leather sits on her skin I opted for a chemical free softner im sure other proudcts will work just as well.Update Dec 2014She wears the collar daily. It drys quickly when she swims and has not stained her fur when wet. Its still soft and supple with no drying or cracking. We are more impressed after having the collar a few more months than we were originally.

I've had this collar 24 hours. It hasn't even been on the dog other than to try out sizing. The brass of the buckle and the D ring are already (or arrived) tarnished! Has not come into contact with water, but it is like 90% humidity here right now. I have several other pieces of dog gear with brass hardware that have survived swimming, rain, etc. so this is pretty disappointing.

This collar is very well made and looks really sharp! Just wish it would fit my dog. It is a little stiff but I am sure with wear it will soften.The direction clearly state “measure from buckle to middle hole. My dogs neck is 16” when he is shaved so I like to have extra so we can adjust as his coat grows out and I did account for that—oops. The 16 would of been perfect if my dog didn’t need adjusting. Going to exchange for 18”. They are right on with their measurement to the third hole!

I was worried about the price but the collar is worth it. I bought two, one for each springer spaniel, in the 16" size. One dog measured at 15", the other at 16" and this size is right for them on the middle hole. The strap at the front is nice and wide and the hardware is excellent quality. They are a bit stiff, as all good leather is at first. I worked them through my hands, bending and twisting, while watching television and they softened up well. I expect them to soften further with wear. These are very good-looking, comfortable collars that don't rub the hair, bleed colour or get caught under loose scruff.

I love rolled leather collars. They literally can last a lifetime and only get softer with age. This is no exception. A little stiff at first, but the measurement guide was right on. I ordered as directed and my daschund/hound mix wears it on the middle hole. A little more red in color than I anticipated, but I expect variations with leather. None of the fading of nylon and absorbs less odor and oil than flat leather. I would order this item again.

The rivets came out of the collar and it fell apart. Also, I thought it didn't matte his fur behind his ears at first but later found out it did matte it. I tried to contact Amazon but because it was bought using my husband's email, they wouldn't let me do it and I couldn't get my husband to let me use his email to do it.

The leather is sturdy and is a great colour. I'm giving it 2 stars, though, because the hardware stained my dog's chest fur black, and it took several washes with Dawn dish soap to get it all out.

a sophisticated collar for a sophisticated dog! i didn't think it was possible for my dog to look any more handsome but he does in this collar!!! it's really well made -- arrived a bit stiff, and after reading one of the reviews, i was a little nervous that it would be hard for him to break in -- but not at all. there was one spot on the inside of the collar where the leather piece was a little bit pokey - i just filed it down slightly with my fingernail file and that did the trick. Highly recommend!
