Ashthorpe Full-Size Cutaway Thinline Acoustic-Electric Guitar Package - Premium Tonewoods - Natural

I'm an experienced guitarist with over 30 years of experience playing live and in the studio but took the last 6 years off and sold everything about 2 years ago. When I decided to start back up in Nov '24 and do some recording, I thought I'd start off with some inexpensive guitars and put some time into setting them up (setting the action, intonation, dressing the frets, etc). I picked up this guitar because the reviews seemed pretty good and honestly, the build quality of guitars these days are pretty good for the money so I wasn't too concerned. Out of the box this guitar needed minimal work to sound good unplugged. Just a little lemon juice on the fretboard and a new set of strings and minor filing/sanding to round out a few frets but otherwise this guitar was in excellent, playable condition. Plugged in, it's a bit lacking and sounds like a guitar that cost a few hundred, nothing great. I'm recording tracks using Logic Pro and Eventide Ultra Channel and Ultraverb to polish the sound but it still sounded a bit generic and sterile. I found a free IR loader plugin from STl Tones and a free Acoustic Guitar IR from Worshiptutorials for a Taylor 414Ce, 816 and Martin D-35 and now it's unbelievable. The IR Loader is stereo so I have one side to sound like a Taylor 816 and the other as a Martin D-35 and it's heaven with the reverb from Eventide. I plan to just use this guitar for recording and with the IR and other plugins, I'm very happy with the results, essentially getting a $3-4000 guitar sound from a $100 guitar. Does it feel like a Martin or Taylor? No, but if you're a good player who can do some minor guitar set up work, you can make this into a very easy to play guitar and with the plugins, you're 95% of the way there sound wise for 2-3% of the price. Does it look like a nice Martin/Taylor, no but I'm not interested in spending an extra $1000 for inlays, binding or a name on the headstock that doesn't affect the sound. From my experience over the years and having owned many of the top off the shelf and custom guitars and amps, gear and technology has improved dramatically just in the last 10 years and you can now get great equipment at a very low cost but the major manufacturers (and Artists) just wants everyone to think they need to spend $$$ to sound like the pros. A lot of that is "in" your hands but on the gear side, if you're creative, you can get a professional sound with beginner/intermediate gear. Don't get caught up with G.A.S., save your money, practice more and get creative and you'll be a better player, engineer and musician vs. being a high gear collector.

I'm in my 50s, working from home, a bit of an artists and have been dabbling with electronic music. I figured I would improve those skills if I could play an instrument. Having played a little as a teen I decided a guitar could be fun. Not convinced I would stick with it I didn't want to spend much money but I also wanted something legitimate. I spent a significant amount of time researching and kept coming back to this guitar. I was terribly skeptical because the price didn't seem right for the quality described by the seller and the reviews. It came to this guitar or one other that was priced around $400. I decided I couldn't be trusted to follow through so I bought this one. It's exactly as described. It sounds fantastic. It stays in tune. It looks beautiful. A close friend who is a guitarist musician picks it every time he visits and always shakes his head in disbelief of the quality for the price. It's certainly not a high end instrument but I think it's totally competitive with mid range in quality. For hundreds of dollars less. It's been about a month and I play almost every day. I've been taking Fender's online classes and using RockSmith on my Xbox. Man, I was thrilled when I plugged this guitar into my Xbox and it tuned and picked up every note flawlessly. I'm now playing songs, know and can play scales and have developed some fine calluses on my fingers. I only write reviews when I'm so thrilled with a product I want to let people know or if it's so bad I need to warn. I just can't see how you can go wrong with this instrument. July 2022 Update: It's been two years and I have several guitars now. Thanks to this beauty I fell in love with playing guitar. I continue to play it and when friends are visiting it's a fantastic guitar to have to jam together around a fire. I still highly recommend this guitar for anyone interested in experimenting or to have a decent loaner/practice guitar at hand. I take it camping when I don't want to put my more expensive guitars at risk. It would be an awesome starter guitar for children as it's sturdy, provides good sound and a really good playing experience at a price I still find astonishing. It's crazy to realize it's been two years. This guitar got me through some tough times, and I keep a special place for it in my heart. :--) Corny but true.

This is my first guitar, so this is from a true beginner. The guitar itself is beautiful, looks like the pictures, sounds great once tuned, and I’ve already learned three songs on it. I’m 5’3”, and the sizing mistake was partly mine. I thought a full-size guitar would be fine because my hand fits comfortably around the neck, but I underestimated how HUGE the body would feel. Reaching over it hurts my shoulder, and it’s harder to see the fretboard while learning chords. If you’re around my height, seriously consider a 3/4-size or 38-inch guitar. The reviews warning about the size are not lying. I also have to press the strings pretty hard to avoid buzzing, although I’m not sure if that’s normal for acoustic guitars or if mine needs adjusting. The accessories are the biggest disappointment. The bag barely fits the guitar and looks like the guitar is trying to escape it. It feels cheap, smells strongly like plastic, and the strap is uncomfortable and is likely to rub your raw. The picks are good, though and I use them quite often. I knew before buying that it didn’t include an amp, tuner, or capo, so I bought those separately, but I didn’t realize how useful those things would be as a beginner. If you want to play different songs and actually use the acoustic-electric feature, you’ll probably want those pretty quickly. Overall, buy it for the guitar itself, NOT the accessories. The guitar is beautiful, sounds good, and I genuinely have fun playing it. Realistically, the bundle gets about 3 stars from me, but because I like the actual guitar so much, I’m giving it 4 stars.

I'll preface this by saying I am no expert in guitars or what aspects of construction determine quality. I am merely a dude who decided to pick up a guitar and learn the play while stuck at home. With not much but a price point I had no idea where to start, and like any normal Amazon patron, I went to the reviews. After searching high and low, I finally came up with two guitars that fit my price range, and seemed to be well liked overall. My options were the slightly more sleek, and well known, Ibanez Talman, and this uknown, inexpensive Thinline Ashthorpe guitar with great reviews on Amazon. After a bit more research, I did what any sensible person would do. I bought both. Fast forward a week or two later, my guitar gets stolen from the mail room of my building. Some documents and a few emails later, the sellers promptly sent a replacement, this time with Signature Required! Thank you for that! After receiving the guitar, my initial thoughts were of the quality. You can clearly tell this isn't the picture of high level craftsmanship. There's what appeared to be finger smudge marks on the body, and the lining on the guitar was a bit rough. Overall it looks slightly cheaper then the Talman, which is to be expected. Looks aside, this thing is great! In fact, after 2 months or so, I can tell you I have played this guitar 90% more then the Talman. The sound is great, and most importantly, it feels great to play! As a complete beginner, I am clearly not an expert at set up. Out of the box, once I got it tuned up, it played great and felt comfortable. The Talman, despite being more expensive and from a well known brand was not nearly as comfortable. The sound is great, but the action out of box was much worse than this lesser known Ashthorpe, which made playing uncomfortable, and the thought of learning much less exciting. All in all, I cant speak for the experienced guitarist, but I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking to get into acoustic style guitar, without the larger body, at an amazing price point. I am a rank beginner at guitar playing, so that is my perspective. I am spending several weeks out of state at a relative's home and didn't want to take a guitar on the plane, so I bought this one and had it delivered to my destination. The finish is better than you would expect, and everything arrived undamaged. Because everyone says the included strings are junk, I immediately changed out the strings for D'Addario custom light (11-51) and strung it up. As expected, it had to be continuously retuned for the first few days. But the neck is straight, string relief seems on point, and the action at the 12th fret is within limits, about 1.25mm on the 6th string, 2.25 mm on low E. The tuners feel a little cheap, but whatayawant for $99? They work ok. Like I said. I've only been playing for a couple of months, but I am VERY impressed. Action is nice, easy to play, and the tone is beautiful. The full size thinline shape is more comfortable than a dreadnought size. I like it better than my Yamaha I've got at the house. I've only been playing it for a few days, but making progress and enjoying myself as much as if it cost 2 or 3 times as much. If you are a better player than I, your mileage my vary, but for a beginner this is highly recommended. I'm amazed at the quality for the money

Full and honest review: This guitar is super cute. I love the color and the maker even went to the effort of making these strings a pink color as well. It was a nice touch, and you can tell that the guitar was designed with care. I've purchased quite a few discount guitars over the past few years, I will say this particular guitar had the most buzz/ring to it. It. Usually when people complain about discount guitars, they complain about a buzz/ring that comes out when you strum it. Oftentimes I cannot hear that, but I could on this guitar. With that being said, I still play it all the time and I even like the ring a little bit for some of the things I play. I also would like to add that this is a little bit harder for me to play. It hurts my fingers more than some of my other guitars, but I don't think that is due to the fact that it is "cheaply made". My $400 guitar is just as hard to play. I also wanted to note that this is in fact a salmon color. The pearl circular thing in the middle is also stunning. Every time I get a new guitar it will not hold a tuning as well as my older guitars and this one was no exception. So the first few times I played it, I had to do some serious retuning. I love the guitar and I might order another one. As much as I love this, I will say, that - if you don't care about the looks of your guitar - there are other discount guitars for only maybe $20 more on Amazon that are generally better quality, but don't have the electronics. I want to give this a 5 star review because someone clearly went to the effort of trying to make an affordable acoustic electric so that average people can afford a decent quality experience, and I'm here for it. Heck, I've been searching high and low for a pink guitar for the past year that would actually some decent at an open mic and I finally have it. Thank you, Ashthorpe.

One thing I've learned over the years about acoustic guitars is that the higher the price, the easier it is in the fingers. A great acoustic plays like an electric guitar, meaning it takes very little strength to easily play a clean sounding cord with out hurting your wrist muscles or finger tips. A beginner gets discouraged fast as per the pain of playing. Just a tip for parents...lol, buy a higher end guitar, $ 6 or 800 , Fender, Ovation or Guild, if you want your children to learn and still love you for it. I wasn't expecting much in this guitar, but desperation and circumstances forced me to give it a shot. For the money, I'm impressed. Had a problem with the bridge, as after tuning it correctly there's a lot of tension on strings, neck and bridge. I played an hour, and the next day went to play it again and it was way out of tune already. Something amiss ? Ah yes, as you can tell by the pictures, the bridge had lifted from the guitar. I removed the pegs and the strings, and carefully reglued it with clear gorilla glue. After drying 24 hours with a weighted bag set on top for good adhesion, I reasemble the strings , retuned...and it's held up great. Sounds fantastic for a cheap guitar. Quite impressed, not to harsh on the fingers for an experienced strong handed player. Held its tuning for a few weeks now. Was more worried about neck warpage, but plays clean and so far the necks strayed straight. I'd recommend this any day for those on a tight budget like me.

So needed this for a class. Unfortunately, the box was in pretty bad shape when it came. However contents inside were not damaged apart from a minor wood chip and some scratches. If you are going to use this for performances, I would recommend a more expensive guitar (or a really expensive amp) as the guitar in general has a bit of a higher tone. However, it's great for beginners and the electricity system to a singular speaker/amp or even to a system works pretty well. The strap was not cut enough, therefore I had to make the hole slightly bigger in order to put it in. The aux cable is great long which allows you to walk around.

What an amazing bright sound this guitar has, great effortless action. Amazing to play great for any type of musician. Beginner or professional. One concern, I wore down the frets in less than 8 months. Not sure what the material is but I would recommend for the price point getting this guitar and thinking about putting stainless steel frets on it. It sounds and plays amazingly well, definitely planning on getting another one.

Je ne suis pas déçue! J’ai hésité à acheter une guitare en ligne, sans l’avoir vu, pris ds mes mains et jouer qques notes… Au final, elle est merveilleuse! Le bois est super, elle est plus mince qu’une guitare classique et elle sonne super bien. Le coffre souple est aussi sac à dos et il ne prends pas de place. Je ne regrette pas du tout mon choix, rapport qualité/prix exceptionnel!
