LED Bulb Will Not Work
I gave it 4 stars because with the mogul base you can only use an incandescent bulb. The extra base on the LED bulb prevents it from contacting hence it will not light up. Also, as mentioned before in a review a 3-Way Bulb will not work with the mogul base.

Adapter
It works well with old style light bulbs but many newer bulbs have wider flanges at the end of the screw in threads. This makes it difficult to get these newer light bulbs screwed all the way into the socket. Full electrical contact is hard to achieve with the new style bulbs, ergo no light.

Excellent product.
These work perfectly and are MUCH cheaper then local retailers.

I only use for testing
Works great to test the socket & photocell when the light doesn't come on. Much cheaper & easier checking than using full size lightbulb.

Potentially Dangerous
This was purchased to reduce the size of a larger socket to accommodate a standard size LED bulb in a dusk to dawn fixture. After testing the reducer in the fixture with a brand new LED, I waited for the fixture to turn on at dusk - and it didn't turn on. After some troubleshooting, I tried it again and it still wouldn't turn on at dusk. After a few days, I tested the LED in another fixture and discovered that it didn't work. I also noticed that the base of the LED was partially burned and/or melted.I then installed another brand new LED in the reducer, tested it to make sure it worked and again waited overnight for it to function. Again, this LED didn't light up. Also, the second LED would no longer work when tested in another light fixture. My mission in ordering the reducer was to (1) reduce the amount of energy used by the bigger bulb the light fixture accepts - since it operates overnight, and (2) reduce the amount of light in the area where the appliance was installed. In case you were wondering, the problem wasn't the light fixture itself. After all the carnage to two perfectly good (and expensive) LED bulbs, I replaced the original wide-based light bulb and it shines all night just like it always did.THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THIS REDUCER DESTROYED TWO PERFECTLY GOOD OUT-OF-THE-BOX LED LIGHT BULBS. PLUS, FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON, THE ITEM CANNOT BE RETURNED - EVER. The reducer itself shows no signs of overheating or damage. Over the years, I have ordered more items from Amazon than I can count and I cannot recall anything that was labelled "not returnable" after it was purchased and well within the normal return period.Just know that this reducer is a DESTRUCTIVE PIECE OF ABSOLUTE JUNK. The first LED bulb remained in the fixture (not working) for at least a week. The second one was in the fixture for only one night. The first bulb has the damaged base - perhaps due to the duration of time it remained in the fixture - while the second one had no damage. Yet, after the fact, neither LED bulb was functional. The damage to the first LED bulb makes me wonder what might have happened if it were left in the energized appliance even longer - perhaps an electrical fire??

Exact item for my need.
Repaired a lamp for a family member and needed an adapter to use standard bulbs, this did the job.

works good
Bought a old lamp at yard sale. It had the very large socket in middle. I bough the reducer and used a LED bulb in it to make it more modern. Works great

I had metal haloid ficstures in my wood shop and wanted to switch to led bulbs.
i bypassed the ballast and capacitor but needed this adaptor for the leds, Ihad to sand some plastic off of the outside edge of this adaptor so the bulb would scew in far enough to make contact. The leds run cooler so less chance of fire, plus they come on instantly.

Are as indicated
We like them as it helps fit a regular bulb into an antique lamp that would normally take a large bulb that is not produced anymore.
