Set this up in a spin bike
I added this to a Spinner NXT Bike and it reports the RPM to an iPad Pro 9.7-inch (128GB, Wi-Fi, Space Gray) 2016 Model accurately and quickly. Combined with a Wahoo Fitness Run/Gym Heart Rate Monitor for iPhone 4/4S I get everything I need for an at-home spinning class. Some caveats: - The button magnet was attached to the inside of the spin bike's wheel by drilling a 2.5mm hole and tapping it with a 3mm X 0.6 pitch threading tap ( 3mm x .6 High Speed Steel Plug Tap (PACK OF 2) ) and then measuring the distance from the center of the axil to the hole drilled. Multiply that by 2 and then multiply the result by Pi. For example the hole I drilled is at the inner edge between the silver strip and the black field in the decal. That was (for me) exactly 7" from the center of the axis. So 7*2*3.14159 = 43.982297 or a wheel circumference of 44 inches. Put that into the app you use as a custom wheel size to get accurate MPH or KPH readings. If you don't feel comfortable with the drilling and tapping I'm pretty sure you can just duct tape a small magnet like Zafos 25pcs Cylinder Magnets Round Magnets for Arts Crafts Hobbies and Office Organization.Bonus E-Magnetic Worksheet onto the wheel which should last a while. - On this spinning bike, the pedal armature does not get in close enough proximity to the body of the sensor for the cadence sensor to pick up a magnet attached to the pedal. However I find the RPM/MPH (KPH) to be sufficient as the spinning bike is a fixed peddle to RPM ratio. - I added a triangular block of wood attached with velcro to the system so I could easily service the unit which came in handy for pairing (below) and that the sensor arm was closer to perpendicular to the travel of the wheel magnet. I was concerned that if the magnet traveled in an obtuse angle to the sensor, it might not trigger correctly. - I learned that pairing can get confused and the sensor unit needed to be reset to swap from an iPad to an iPhone. This was likely because I had neglected to turn off Bluetooth on the previously paired device (or moved it far enough out of range) and therefore the new device could not "find" the sensor to pair with. To reset the sensor, you need to insert the battery BACKWARDS for 3 seconds. It is not enough to just pull the battery out for a few seconds. Once I started remembering to take the step of turning off Bluetooth on the device(s) I'm not using, paring with multiple devices has not been a problem. - A CableJive dockStubz+ Charge Converter and 30-pin Pass Through Adapter for iPhone, iPod, and iPad and a Apple Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter (MD823AM/A) theoretically allows you to charge the iPad while cycling. However the whole stack of dongles makes me feel like a small bump will permanently damage the lightning connector. So I just put the ANT+ dongle in and run on battery.

Great sensor for the price!
Arrived in new package, all parts in box. Mounted easily. I used the rubber fixture to secure to my bike, but added one zip tie based on other reviews. I couldn't install the cadence magnet on my crank arm as I didn't have a pedal wrench to remove my clipless pedals, so I just cut the rubber band portion in half and zip tied the whole thing to my crank arm. Not ideal, but seems to be holding just fine. I may have to reorder one of those if this one falls of. That's the reason for the 4 stars, not 5, should be able just to affix to crank arm with zip ties.I was able to use the wheel magnet from another sensor, no problems. The magnet and wheel sensor do have to be fairly close to register, but no closer than with any other speed sensor I've used. The crank sensor worked just fine from the first crank.I downloaded the Wahoo app and was able to get all the info on my phone no trouble. Then the reason I chose this particular sensor, I have TomTom watch which is compatible. Was able to pair with no trouble. I did have some trouble finding where to adjust the wheel size and share the workouts to MapMyFitness, but a couple of emails to the support team and my questions were answers quickly and cheerfully.I am not sure why some of those who posted negative reviews had the issues they did. This worked just as advertised out of the box is affordable and customer service to date has been great.Update:Had this since May. The cadence sensor failed to work on my ride Saturday. Speed sensor continued to work fine. Thought it was the battery. Changed the battery, spun the pedals and lights lit up, cadence counted, etc. Went to ride on trainer this morning and no data. No speed, no cadence, nothing. Moved the cadence sensor to where it was just a hair away from the crank, still no data. Tried calling customer service today and had to leave a voice mail. Not happy. Emailed customer support, will see what they say. Very annoying since today is Wednesday and I have a race on Saturday. Will have to go to the trouble of installing my old computer that just calculates miles so I can at least see where I am during my ride on Saturday.Another issue, the app stopped sharing with MapMyFitness. Emailed customer support, said there was a glitch, try shutting down phone, restarting and then try syncing. That fix worked as far as syncing goes.

Very good and reliable but very fiddly to fit
I ordered the Blue SC in 2016 and only replaced them in 2020 after the speed sensor (arm bit) became defective. Whilst it didn't get daily usage over the four years, it probably equates to a good couple of years of hard usage. The unit is reliable and simple to manage via the Wahoo app (not great but adequate). For me this unit worked without fail every time I called on it until spring of 2020 - so I think its reliability is more than reasonable. The setup is a pain. The mounting on the chainstays greatly depends on your frame. If you have chunky chainstays it won't fit comfortably and lots of adjustments required to fit (if at all). Mount the magnet on the crank arm and this is your cadence sorted. The speed sensor requires the arm to be adjusted and magnet placed on the spoke. This again is fiddly and explains why accelerometers versions have come to replace magnet dependent sensors.Definitely worth waking the device up, pairing with your head unit first and then decide how you mount the unit on your bike by trial and error. It may have to be hung upside down from the chainstays or face the opposite direction to ensure you have the best position for both speed and cadence sensors to work properly. One other annoying point in 2020 is that you have no way of knowing the battery life of the device. The Wahoo app will give you connection strength (i.e. Bluetooth signal strength, ANT+ signals are pretty solid so no real need to monitor those) but it would be handy to see the battery life so you know when to change it as opposed to finding out mid ride, but I have yet to see any device that gives battery life of CR2032s so this isn't just this unit.Anyway once mounted and set up, the unit is solid and lasted 4 years for me without fail. I replaced the batteries probably around 2~3 times a year. One tip is to access the battery doors by removing the rear wheels so you don't have to readjust every time you replace the batteries!

Stopped working after 11 months
[post edit: Wahoo sent me a new replacement no questions asked. Kudos to the excellent service recovery, and for Amazon customer service to help link up]Stopped working after 10 months. Dead and not responding at all. Expected to last more than a year for Wahoo products. Disappointed at the poor product reliability at such price higher than other sensors. No warranty even :(
