Gas fitting
There seems to be a difference between the fittings with a brown rubber gasket and the identical fitting with a black gasket. The brown rubber gasket fit my 2018 mercury 9.9

Why build your own fuel line from scratch ?
Do it Right or Do it Over New connectors are clean inside and easy to replace when you assemble your own fuel source rather than just buy a grey one in a plastic bag that has a limited lifetime and no real warranty the sun cooks the cheapo grey ones so they crumble one of those grey hose was enough for me to say never again I can and will make my ownbetter than the store bought crab
