For a time, a grew my own shiitakes and dried them in my Excaliber dehydrator. Prior to that, I bought them whole dried. I have discovered I really didn't know what I was doing all because my original order got canceled. When I was shopping on Amazon I clicked on the brand of whole dried they recommended, It said hurry up and order because there were only x numbers in stock. Then I got the email canceling my order promising a refund. I was miffed but immediately found these sliced dried ones. When I got them I rehydrated some and used them in a chicken ramen soup. I saw they were sliced much thinner than I used to, were much easier to cook with, and easier to chew and swallow, and discovered that was the way to go for many reasons.Plus there were no stems, which are too tough to eat anyway...less waste. Finally Let me tell you the health claims about them are absolutely true. I started using them for that reason, besides being a mushroom lover. My doctor wanted to put me on statins for cholesterol. I put her off pending a recheck 6 months later. My next test was excellent, plus my immune system improved, and I felt an enhanced sense of health and well being because of those shrooms and other dietary adjustments.

These are absolutely the most amazing mushrooms I've ever purchased. The flavor is superior to all other dried shiitake mushrooms I've ever purchased! I was skeptical of all the 5 star reviews... but, now I completely understand why there are so many. I've already placed an order for a second bag. I eat them dried as a snack. The flavor is unbelievable! I have made shiitake mushroom soup already 3 times this week. It's just THAT amazing.

“USDA organic” does NOT appear anywhere on package or label. Looks, taste are fantastic. But can’t be sure it is truly organic.

EXCELLENT product! BIG bag of lots of healthy mushrooms ---wonderful flavor & can tell were very fresh when they were dried. They have a good texture and are EXCELLENT.

These are NOT ORGANIC. While the company's called SB "Organics," when the package arrives there's no mention of organic production. Non-organic mushrooms are raised on substrate that attracts flies and other insects. They're often drenched with pesticides. If you're looking for healthy mushrooms, look elsewhere.

This was a huge bag of mushrooms. I opened the bag to do a taste test. Yes they taste like dried mushrooms and they were very nice. I always vacum seal my opened products and they filled up two half gallon jars and a quart jar. I would have spent a lot more money and time if I'd bought them fresh and dehydrated them. Great buy here!

I bought this bag after finding a recipe for "vegan meat" as we are incorporating more and more whole food plant based recipes into our rotation. These are great, giant bag, and I can grab as needed, re hydrate, and use in recipes.
