Perfect for us
Just what my wife needed to continue feeding herself independently. Her fine motor skills are declining due to a neurological disorder. I'm an occupational therapist and was familiar with the effectiveness of these plates that have been around for a long time. What I was looking for was quality at a reasonable price and I found it with this product. I ordered 2 and I use one to make her feel more comfortable. Now my daughter wants one too.FYI, I cut my wife's food for her and she primarily uses a spoon to scoop

Solid plate that has worked well for our handicapped child
This works well for our handicapped child. Well built, thick material, non-slip base. We bought one to start out and then ordered two more. Looks like a basic dinner plate so he does not stand out at the table. We also have some of the right angle spoons and forks to help him out.The plate does start out white and you can use it on top rack of dishwasher but I can see where the color is changing a bit already. It could be a bit bigger but I also understand keeping it this size - which is between a dessert plate and a full dinner plate - so it fits on top rack of dishwasher. Our son is a real eater as he needs extra calories just to maintain his thin frame due to all the extra work he does to control his muscles.

Just what we needed
We have tried a couple of plates and this plate is the one that worked best for us. Of the plates we tried, this allows a person who is only able to use her left hand to be able to feed herself with little or no help. The anti-skid ring around the bottom holds the plate in place better than those with only little feet so she can slide food to the edge and scoop it up with her spoon. This was the plate we were looking for ... so we bought more. Yes, they're almost twice as costly as other plates, but in this case it was worth it and one gets what one pays for. When I try to think of how to improve this, I can't come up with anything. Of course, this is based solely on my experience in my family so it may not apply to your situation.

I bought the Parson's Scoop plate which keeps the food ...
I bought the Parson's Scoop plate which keeps the food on the plate instead of the table, and the Ableware Scooper Bowl with the Suction Cup base to go along with the Kinsman KEatlery Weighted Utensils, Set of 4 Includes Knife, Fork, Teaspoon and Soup Spoon for my Uncle who has a very strong tremble in his hands and was only eating a few bites of food at a meal. The silverware and dishes have made a very big difference for him, it’s much easier for him to eat now.I just bought a second set of everything for my Grandmother who has shaky hands but was resistant to the idea of special silverware and dishes until she saw the difference it made for her brother and tried his. Now she’s looking forward to receiving her set.

durability and overall appearance
This plate is ideal for my wife and is the right size. I especially like the bottom rimmed rubber sleeve too keep it from slipping on our glass tabletop. Only fault is that it did not come with any cleaning instructions so I had to look it up to find out if was dishwasher safe (it is - top rack). Have only had it two weeks but it has come through the dishwasher just fine and it still does not have a scratch on it!Will probably buy a second one!

ok, but not great
After reading lots of reviews I couldn't decide which plate I wanted, so I ordered this plate as well as the Providence Spill proof Scoop Plate. When this plate arrived, the first thing I saw was a sticker on the plate that said "Hygiene item! Not returnable". This plate is ok, but it took 5 days to arrive, and it isn't worth the extra $5 more than the Providence plate. Also the Providence plate has a high wall that keeps the food on the plate better. Keep looking - this isn't the best and you can't return it.

The Plastic Stains
Good product for someone with tremors or other problems that make it difficult to keep their food on the plate. Only problem is that it’s over priced for what it is. A plastic plate with sides on one side only. If I need another one I’ll probably just check around and try to find a wide but not very deep plastic bowl. Something with sides all around.Have had this plate/bowl now for a couple of years. A tiny little bit of BBQ sauce got on the plate from a sandwich that was being reheated in the microwave. The sandwich was wrapped in paper towels too. This is the end result. A stain that absolutely will not come out. Very unappetizing looking.

My elderly father likes this scoop plate.
Bought this for my elderly father, and he likes the scoop plate. But the plastic isn't very hard, and scratches / stains very easily. And when re-heating items in the plate in the microwave, the heat generated from greasy items (like chicken nuggets or burgers, etc.) damages the plate.
