It stirs . . . . . as it was designed to do. I haven't used it very much so I can't comment about battery life.

Don't waste your money
I ended up sending this back. It was used, and not missing pieces. The "spinners" were cheap plastic. I doubt it would have lasted very long. Don't waste your money. It is a cool concept though. I hope to find a product like this that works.
