Philips X2HR Fidelio Over Ear Headphone, Black

Had my eye on these for a while and am so glad I finally ordered them. I have a pair of Audio Technica M40X and they're uncomfortable as hell (although they also sound very nice indeed), so I wanted a large but light, around ear headphone. I put on a couple of songs I know like the back of my hand and was amazed to hear things I hadn't heard before. It took me by surprised to the extent I actually laughed. Plugged directly into my phone and laptop they seemed quite quiet, so I tried them on my stereo amp and they sounded much better. Using a headphone amp with my phone really brought them to life, though. So even though these are quite a low load, I'd definitely recommend using a headphone amp with them. They have a nice, tight bass for open-backed headphones which tend to lack bass overall, so if you like some bass to your music, go for these. I can't comment on the 'wide, forward soundstage' I've seen others mention in reviews as no matter which headphones I use, the sound always seems to be at the rear of my head. This is more a problem with how I personally hear music than with the product itself. I'm sure I can't be the only one? Anyway, definitely buy these. You won't regret it.

Just buy them they are truly amazing

The build is very very well made. A very solid build headphones. Sound! The audios are crisp and clear. I can hear details that I didn't hear with my Creative Aurvana Live!2 !!!! Earpads are comfy but not sure how they hold up to sweat. And they are detachable. HOWEVER, the box came with masking tapes, dust, dents, etc. that seem to indicate this set is not new. The headphones were covered in dust as well. Very disappointed with Amazon.

I got these as my first pair of open back headphones. I'm a bit of a bassheads but I still like to have clarity in my music and I hate bloated sound. I love everything about these headphones. I think they look incredibly nice (although a bit big when worn). They're built like a tank with high quality materials that give them a real premium feeling. They sound amazing and they respond well to eq. I'm driving them with a Moondrop Dawn Pro dongle amp/dac and it gives them more than enough power. I also tried connecting them directly to my laptop's 3.5mm audio port and while they sound a bit darker, it was still enough power for good bass rumble. Bass is what this headphone does best. I used Equalizer APO with Peace GUI to AutoEq them then I adjusted the sound to my liking. Listening to any of Pink Floyd's live albums on this is a dream. I don't have much experience with open back headphones but these sound better than my closed back Fiio FT1, Truthear x Crinacle Zero RED and all my wireless earbuds/headphones (and I own a bunch). At the price-point (I got them around 100 euros), they are a blind buy for me and I easily recommend them to anyone who can live with the sound leakage of open back headphones (I mainly use them in home office).

I had a pair of X2's for years after being gifted them from a friend. They were my daily drivers and were subject to thousands of hours of constant listening daily. In the end, the only thing about them that gave up was the headband. The drivers remain to this day, some of the best sounding headphones I have ever owned. The X2HR's continue on the X2's legacy of being OUTSTANDINGLY comfortable for long-term (12hr+) listening with an open soundstage well balanced towards general media consumption. The X2HR also fixes a number of issues with the X2's headband that lead to its reduced durability over time while still maintaining the same comfort. Since you can't really get the X2's anymore, the X2HR is quite literally as good as you're going to get for this archetype of cans, and I really can't recommend them any higher for someone who is an extremely heavy user and needs something that isn't going to destroy their skull when worn for long periods of time.

First off let me start with the bad. I'm not sure how people can say the stock earpads are comfortable. They are soft however they get your ears super hot after listening for a while (less than an hour). Also the material used is similar to some sort of face scrub - it felt I was getting my face exfoliated every time I used them, very irritating. Coming from the Philips SHP9500s, these earpads were unusable tbh. They should have stuck with the same formula as the 9500s were very comfortable material wise. The earpads on the X2HR were easy to take off no glue, just pull them straight off. I put on my razer kraken pro earpads (cooling gel leather) on the X2's - problem solved. I use the these headphones mainly for gaming and listening to music. For all those looking to use these for competitive FPS gaming, i'll just say right now the SHP9500's are better in terms of positional audio. I can point out the direction of the enemy a bit easier with those. Not to say that the X2's are bad, they're great as well. It's just that the 9500s are one of the best headsets for gaming along with the ATH AD700s. After using these for a while I am happy to say that i'm hanging up the old SHP9500s for these since the X2's make listening to music more enjoyable. Now that i'm using leatherette earcups it helps to bring out the low end and bass line that was lacking in the 9500s. I know i'm trading a bit of sound directionality for better music listening experience, but it's well worth it for me. Using with Dilvpoetry DAC X6 PRO - headphone amp

First of all, this headphone is crazy comfortable - I can wear this for the whole day and not get any headaches or ear pain. Sound-wise, these headphones sound really good to me, but they're my first pair of open backed headphones so I can't comment on it too much. Build quality is pretty solid too, with removable earpads. But so far I've only found one other manufacturer thats selling replacement earpads with the same clip mechanism as the stock ones.
