I bought this to keep my problem child who has a compulsive eating disorder out of the fridge . He has used numerous objects ranging from a butter knife , flat head screw driver and even a small drill bit to pick the lock , and all have been effective for him in his determined state to get into the fridge. It worked for awhile till he figured out he could do this . These are good for keeping small children who arent overly determined or too smart out of the fridge, but otherwise just a waste of time. I still have not come to the point where i need to remove these from the fridge and try a different solution , but that is soon to come and I dread that moment as I fear the adhesive will leave a mark and it will be hard to remove without harsh chemical or a heat gun and alot of work. I would have given it a 4 star had it not been for these things and circumstances , I feel the locking mechanism and key need a bit of simple work and refinement. Update: I have since removed these from the fridge , with some orange degreaser and degunker the adhesive came off easily.

I just received the refrigerator lock and place on on the refrigerator and the other on the freezer and locked them. When I wen to test them by pulling on the doors the one on the refrigerator came apart on the locking end of the item. Put another way the locking side was on the front of the refrigerator locked and the other part was on the side with the cable still attached. I was able to open and close the refrigerator door. What a piece of garbage. I have sent for a return/refund

Do not purchase this product. We've had it for 5 minutes and my 5 yr old son went to open the fridge and the wire came out of the harness. Will be contacting amazon for refund.

Didn’t last 24 hours. Cable popped right out of locking mechanism.

The cable that goes into the lock end slipped right out with very little force. I used gorilla glue to fix it back on.... hopefully it will hold. This happened to both locks, so it wasn't just one bad one.

This works great and is easy to install. 3 stars because the lock is super simple, so if you have a kid that is at all handy, it is easily picked just by shoving anything small enough in the lock and twisting. Also it is not easy to take off. I may have missed something, but I had to rip it off the fridge and scrape off the sticky pad, which is not easy because it's VERY sticky and rips apart. Other than that, it would work great to keep any child that doesn't try to pick the lock out.

Is a great idea, but the baby pulled it right into. Maybe I got a defected one? Maybe I need a cast iron lock with home around. He is strong.

I actually got these for my washer and dryer. My apartment building has hookups for each apartment in the common basement, and also paid machines for those who don't have their own. Well, of course someonehad been using mine (and by default my utilities). So I bought these. They appear sturdy right and hold tight when I pull hard.I'll reevaluate my rating after a few weeks, but I think these will do the trick.
