When I received the licorice it was still relatively fresh and flavorful.

AWESOME!!!
Best licorice ever!! I need to go to LA, licorice anonymous because I could eat a pound a day!! I have ordered the 4 pound container and the 5 oz. packages and they all come very, very fresh. I would rather them to come "not so fresh" because I let them hang out in the air to harden a bit, if I can. I also put them in the fridge to get them harder so I can eat them faster :-) . Well worth the price because I have only seen them one time in the grocery store.

Love these
I love grape licorice but it is so hard to find in stores. I have bought different brands some the taste fades or they come old but these are great they are soft and the grape flavor is good. Best I have found so far.

Not a fresh product
Almost expired product and rock hard. Very disappointing.

delish and different
didn't know that red vines came in grape until recently. These are even better than the red ones, and those are tough to beat. Arrived quickly and were fresh. Will order again.

These aren’t for kids, not as good as Twizzlers
Seemed like a good price for licorice, but these aren’t a taste or texture which felt familiar. I gave to several kids who turned their noses up at them, though adults were fine with them. The hole in the center is larger than Twizzlers, the flavor is very different too. Even the texture seemed more grainy I guess. Not recommended for kids who think of Twizzlers as licorice because these will be a disappointment.

Waiting on grape flavor to develop further
There is a vast improvement in both texture and grape flavor once the package is opened and allowed to air-dry for 36 hours. Initially, the first piece I withdrew from a fresh package broke due to the very soft texture. Further, I could not discern any grape flavor and worse, a waxy profile permeated the twist. After 1.5 days, the texture improved 300%, the aroma at least 100%, and I could clearly discern the subtle grape flavor one reviewer cited. The "waxy" profile was reduced by half its original strength but remains noticeable. I will continue the curing process and re-edit this review after a week or two; hoping to report the grape flavor has concentrated further while the "waxy" flavor has diminished. These twists are mildly sweet with 4 grams of sugar per twist. If the grape flavor were much stronger and the "waxy" flavor eliminated, this product would be 5 stars.
