Bath tub grab bar install project
Summary: Adding a few grab bars to dad's shower. I used a lot of products for this project, so including all related products in this review.Recommendation:1) When mounting grab bars, it's always easier if you can find the stud to attach to. In this vertical install, I decided to use a stud and Wing-Its anchors; partially because I wasn't sure I could hit both, and didn't want to put two fasteners vertically (on either the right or left only), but that would also position the bar in the shower a little too far in (towards the shower control).2) The WingIts requires a 3/4" hole through the mounting material. For tile, this can be especially challenging. I used the SHDIATOOL diamond 3/4" bit, with the DRILLAX adapter to get through the tile, and then used the 3/4" BOSCH bit to finish through the dry wall. Also used the BOSCH bits for the other small hole. Having the right tool for the job is the difference between project completion, and a messy, disaster.Related Products:Moen R8924P Home Care 24-Inch Concealed Screw Bath Safety Bathroom Grab Bar, Peened ~ $30Pros: Moen name, includes stainless screws.Cons: None. Conclusion: 5-starshttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EI0TJ4Structural Grab Bar WingIts, PK2 ~ $14Pros: Heavy duty, highly rated.Cons: Cost ($7/anchor).Conclusion: 4-stars (cost)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CCRJWOSHDIATOOL Diamond Core Drill Bits 3/4 Inch ~ $13Pros: Right tool for the job, looked brand new after drilling two holes (with proper technique, including cool water).Cons: None. Conclusion: 5-starshttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07213KCN9Drilax Core Drill Bit Arbor Adapter ~ $15Pros: Allows SHDIATOOL bit to be used with drill (instead of angle grinder).Cons: Cost (a little expensive). Conclusion: 4-stars (cost)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0737H7CMXBOSCH GT3000 Carbide Hammer Drill Bit Set ~ $25Pros: Cuts great; carrying case.Cons: None. Conclusion: 5-starshttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001GNC8RS

Outstanding Glass/Tile Bit Set
I had to drill 12 holes through my shower tiles to install grab bars for my wife. I was more than apprehensive since I had never drilled tile before. I wanted to get a good set of drill bits to minimize the chance of breaking irreplaceable tiles (1950s color is no longer available). After looking at many glass/tile bits and bit sets, reading review after review, I finally settled on the Bosch GT3000 8-piece set. I couldn't have made a better choice. After placing the grab bars where I wanted them, I masked over the footprint for each end of the bars, then placed the bars back on their desired location and marked where each hole would go. Then, taking "the bit in my teeth," so to speak, I got ready to drill the first hole. I had filled a water bottle to cool the bit, just as I had read on some "how-to" site. I pressed the bit tip into the tile and heard a small crack as the tip penetrated the glaze. Drilling at a slow speed and keeping a small stream of water at the contact point, I proceeded. My heart was beating a 100 times a minute and my breathing was shallow. I was scared to death.Within seconds, the bit was through the tile. On to the second hole - same experience. Then, before I knew it, I had all twelve holes drilled and not one cracked or chipped tile. These bits are so sharp that the twelfth hole drilled as easily and quickly as the first, and every hole was clean as a whistle.I finished the holes with a regular titanium high speed bit, mounted the bars, and voila, a done deal. I cannot say enough in praise about these Bosch glass/tile bits. They are worth every cent andt then some. I highly recommend them. When you buy the best, you can expect the best in performance. Oh, and the case is really nice, too. And, the buying experience? It was worth the time spent researching, being a Prime member and getting the bits two days after ordering, free shipping, and everything else I've come to expect from Amazon. I also bought with confidence knowing that Amazon stands behind everything they sell. All-in-all, and excellent experience.

Did the job, but very easy to damage or bend.
Was glad I read reviews for this bit prior to using it. You need to use it correctly. I was drilling four holes through ceramic tile. I used moderate pressure and would stop and dip the bit in water frequently. This 1/8th " bit is thin and got the impression that it can bend very easily. But I took it easy and it did make it through the tile 4 times. Don't expect it to plunge through like drilling wood. Take it slow, and it'll make it through eventually. Also lubricate the bit in water frequently.I used it to install a shower safety bar. Instructions said to drill 1/8th holes, but this proved nearly impossible to drive screws all the way in. Had to resort to holding the screw head with vice grips and turning 1/4 turn at a time until tight. Crazy hard. I had to resort to drilling with this bit and then slightly enlarging the holes with a slightly larger standard bit. Even then it was difficult. So I don't know if the instructions for the shower bar were incorrect, or if this drill is slightly undersized. Or maybe neither.

Quality is great!!
Used to drill holes in ceramic tile. Went thru tile with ease. Got the job done. Only had to drill 6 holes.
