Parents Talk, Children Listen: How to Talk to Your Children So That They Will Listen and Obey Paperback – May 21, 2014

....you can get past all the typos, missing words, use of incorrect words, etc. Sad, really, because the author does provide good, basic, common sense tactics that are all too often lost on, or misunderstood by parents. Too many parents still parent by way of, "kids are meant to be seen, not heard" and never take the chance to truly listen and get to know their kids. I got this book for my boyfriend so he could understand how to effectively reach out and communicate with his two young kids....rather than hearing it just from me. But, unfortunately, I do believe when books are poorly written and edited (or no editing) that it reflects on the quality of the message being written. So, this particular book will not be shared with him and I would not personally recommend it to others either.

Got some great ideas for discussions to have with my kids from this book. I have a son with bi-polar and gives me some great ideas.

I can't begin to say how frustrating a book this was to read; it was absolutely horribly written, the grammar and punctuation was horrendous. The book made some very valid points but the way it was written completely put me off reading it. An editor or at the very least a proof reader would have made a huge difference. It was also written very colloquially, which made for a very frustrating read.

Very well written. Only reason for less stars is that the format is too busy and leaves my aspergic brain unable to read sustained passages without feeling dizzy.
