Fight for Survival (Review #548)
I know Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction are the ones who created this series, but I think Duane Swierczyski does a better job with it. His dialogue, story pacing, it all has a more comfortable flow to it. Even though the storylines he explores were set up by the previous writers, there is a clear difference between the styles used. This volume explores the mystery of all previous Iron Fists deaths at 33 years old, and that of the Eighth City. He also introduces more of and in one case expands upon the older generations of Iron Fists along the way, and even one from the future. The main series is consistently great however the tie-in stuff with the Immortal Weapons miniseries is a mixed bag. The best issue of that series is the first one, written by Jason Aaron and staring Fat Cobra. It reveals a tragic past hidden by drink for so many years. The rest of these issues fail to reveal enough about any of the other Weapons, especially not with the second issue focused on Bride of Nine Spiders. I really don't like much of the art this time either from most of the artists who worked on the series but I will again say the style fit the story. The first of these Complete Collections really grabbed my attention but this one held it right until the end.4/5

Iron Fist is awesome
I love this comic. OMG the story just keeps getting better and better. Not a lot of people like Iron fist but I donโt care. This complete collection is awesome

Great read
Great stories. Very detailed. The continuous struggle of trying to mold life and being an Iron Fist. Excellent even if your not into comics.

First rate graphic novels!
Incredible, top notch artwork and storytelling. I bought these to get caught up with the Iron Fist mythology in preparation for the upcoming Netflix series and was very pleasantly surprised by how excellent the quality is for these books (Volumes 1 and 2 both).

Immortal Iron Fist is best Iron Fist
I originally picked up this series as I enjoyed Fraction and Aja's work on Hawkeye and am a huge fan of Fraction's work anyway. This is superior to Hawkeye in every way, The story which begins in The Complete Collection vol.1 (you really do need to start there, you can't just pick up this collection without it) puts a whole new spin on the Iron Fist mythos,Brubaker, another fantastic writer, takes over here for a more involving volume than the previous one, Brubaker really engages the reader within the plot, he takes hold and doesn't let go.This Danny Rand is very different to the one currently occupying the Power Man & Iron Fist series, so don't expect the excitable, little brother Danny. The humour is very human and the art is beautifully put together.. The plot moves along at a satisfying pace and it is a huge credit to the portfolios of everyone involved.

Weaker than the first collection
This collection is much weaker than the first, most of the stories here are not connected and can get quite boring at times. A lot of different artist worked on them, so they look completely different. I think it can easily be skipped, unless you are dying to know how exactly the Immortal Weapons were born

Not as good as the first volume, but still good.
Okay, so I loved the first book in this "complete collection" by Fraction & Aja, but was warned Duane Swierczynski didn't write the iron fist so well. That MAY be true, but some of the stories by him are actually pretty good. The plot(s) are engaging, and some of Danny Rand's trademark humorous comments are there (maybe not as many as Fraction would have put in though), the real failing of some of these stories is the artwork. It's not all bad though, some stories have great art, some are okay but with strange elastic arm and leg movements or odd looking faces (that can take you out of the experience), and half of the artwork in the last story is just plain bad. Worst of all is the inconsistency. In the first volume, artists mainly changed during flashbacks or side stories only, in this volume they can change mid story, which is just wrong. Honestly the best parts of this collection are the one-shot stories. The five individual immortal weapon stories are all good (particularly Fat Cobra & John Aman's), and the Orson Randall "California Death Queen" story is (in my opinion) the best part of this collection. So there you have it. Not as good as the first volume, but if you want to see where Danny's story goes, if you want to learn about the eighth city, and if you want some background on the immortal weapons, pick this up. 75/100.

Iron Fist still won't die
The second volume contains the rest of the Immortal Iron Fist series and it's sidestories and it's still a great comic. The volume is compiled just like the previous one. The volume contains the last two storyarcs of the comic, The Mortal Iron Fist and Escape From the 8th City as well as the Immortal Weapons miniseries and several other sidestories. Sadly David Aja stopped doing the art for the series at this point so pretty much every issue has a different artist so the style fluctuates between issues. The artwork is mostly fine though I wish Aja was with the series to the end. But overall if you liked the first volume you should definitely pick this up too.
