Fly High!: The Story of Bessie Coleman

This is one of my absolute favorite biographies to read to my students. I love the way it is written, almost could be read as a poem or a readers theater. Also makes the character very inspirational.

Children loved the story and found it inspiring.

I am a classroom teacher and this was perfect for my first graders. They liked the pictures and as well as the story of Bessie Coleman.

This book is educational, beautiful, and because it’s based on a real woman it is very sad. My girls loved reading it and learning about a woman with incredible motivation.

This was recommended by one of the volunteers with the Tuskegee exhibit that came through our city recently. Yes, it is a "children's" book but is so well written and contains enough information for an adult to thoroughly enjoy as well.
