## Description

Product Description The Hybrid 6' x 4' Greenhouse from Palram - Canopia combines two types of polycarbonate panels to create a balanced environment for your plants. The translucent polycarbonate roof panels have twice the heat retention of single layer panels and allow the light to reach your plants at all angles while the crystal-clear polycarbonate side panels provide over 90% light transmission and block harmful UV rays. Polycarbonate is a virtually unbreakable polymer that provides the light transmission of glass, but is lighter, stronger, and safer. Palram - Canopia engineers their panels and aluminum frames to be strong, highly resistant to harsh weather and sun, and durable. This attention to detail continues with an integrated gutter system for drainage as well as a roof vent and hinged door to provide airflow and allow adjustment of heat, humidity, and ventilation. Review: Great first Greenhouse - Here are my first impressions and setup tips. 1. Installation: While some reviews found the assembly challenging, I thought it was pretty simple, just need to be patient and follow directions in order. The directions are similar to IKEA’s, where it’s mostly graphical, with a few notes scattered throughout where more detail is necessary. It’s recommended to have two people working together during installation. I only had 1 issue with the roof bracket instructions. The part number placement did not match the placement depicted by the image. This only cost me about 30 minutes extra since I had to remove 2 roof panels to move the window placement. It was no big deal and was an easy fix. 2. Sturdiness: So far, it does seem very sturdy. I placed the green house on 4x6 wood frame surrounded by gravel. Using lag bolts to secure the base frame to the wood. At first, it did not feel sturdy and I started to have doubts, but by the time everything was secured, it actually feels really sturdy. It’s only been up for a couple weeks and we have had a few storms, with high winds; there was no issues what so ever. 3. Panels: Panels are very clear and provide plenty of sunlight to come in. The hybrid model has different panels for the roof which also helps trap heat and apparently blocks UV rays. Other reviews say they fly out with high wind. I haven’t experience this yet, and they do feel like the windows are locked in pretty well. However, I will take some extra precautions and use some caulk to try and secure them down, just in case. Tips and recommendations: 1. Panels: The corner wall panels were a bit hard to put in, and we got one stuck as we were sliding it in. We found it was way easier to take the corner post out, slide the panels into the corner post, then put the corner back in like it was one piece. While you are building this, walls are not secured and constantly moving, causing some misalignment, which makes it hard to slide the panels in. Putting the corners together as one piece helped tremendously. 2. Parts: One major recommendation is to count all parts, separate them and place them in clearly marked bags. We did not have any parts missing. All small parts went into bags and big parts were organized, so all like parts were together. You will have extra parts left over, review directions, it’s marked which parts have extra pieces. As mentioned earlier, we did not have issues with directions, but we followed one page at a time and only got parts that we needed for that page. 3. Take your time: It took about 3-4 days to put together, working on it a little bit at a time. It gets very hot in the green house when you get towards the end, so have plenty of water handy if you’re working in the sun. Update: After one season. Well, I now see why other users complained about losing panels. After 1 very strong wind storm, roughly 30+ mile an hour winds, one roof panel came half way off. However, the solution was simple. I made kinda of a net with covered steel cable and clamps. See video, and pic of the final solution. I also added some more caulking near the top of the roof, since that is where the panel came out. Pretty sure this will solve the problem.
Review: Nice end product but directions not real clear - Pros: -Could not have done without the directions even though they were not the greatest, they worked. -Looks nice when done. Proud of myself after 13 hours ( yes 13!) of working on it. -Sturdy and cute once done -Gutters are cool -Magnet on door so it stays open if you open it -Pieces went together well. All holes lines up. -That the million pieces were labeled by number All required parts there and in good shape Cons: God awful directions in some places which left a lot to your imagination. Don't try unless you have grit and an internal sense and talent to build/fix things. - Customer service not available on a Saturday when most people would be assembling and having a question. -Vent window should have a magnet or locking clasp. It will surely blow off if caught by wind. -Top end caps just are sitting there without a screw or anything. IGoing to fall off FYI: I screwed mine onto a wooden pool deck. You do need a flat and level surface for sure. Don't begin on upright supports unless you have a full day because they will blow over and bend until all the pieces are locked in. I did the base in one session. When I began the uprights it was windy and I had to support them until I got more pieces on. Will need needle nose pliers and a utility knife too. Lay out and be sure all piece are accounted for and labeled first! Read entire booklet to familiarize yourself with the process. Directions were ok in most places but when they were lacking they were really lacking. Plus DO NOT TIGHTEN fully even if they tell you to because you need to loosen over and over again. The directions for the support straps were really were poor. Same with those little grey plastic pieces that snap on ( 318). I still don't know if I have either on right because the pictures seem to contradict. Directions never mentioned that you need to clip a little chunk out of the plex- glass for the door handle to go together right. The pics were great but in many cases you really need a few words to explain which way to face or turn things. So unclear in many spots. My only major issue is I have no idea how to add the little black rubber things for the vent and my vent window is not lined up square for some reason while the rest of the greenhouse is spot on. I need to reach customer support. The vent in general needs more thought! I di d buy the auto vent but that will be another day! Overall super cute little 6x4 greenhouse. No idea how it will work heating it at night or cooling it in the summer.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than expected.....
*by K***7 on March 23, 2016*

We've been in need of a small greenhouse for some time now and finally got around to researching and picked this one. We chose to assemble it on a wood deck base, an investment of roughly 60 dollars. Assemble was simple enough, despite not having written instructions. The assembly instructions are in illustrations, which is fine, very detailed, easy to understand. My only advice to prospective buyers is to carefully observe the illustrations. I had to back track a few times due to fasteners being installed in the wrong holes, etc. Overall assembly was easy enough. Working by myself, I had it assembled and ready to our seedlings in about 5 hours. As light wieght as it is, I find it to be much sturdier than it looks. The weather will give it a good test in the coming days with wind and rain, but I feel confident our little green house will hold up just fine. Update: Well it's been around a week or so since we've completed our greenhouse and put into service. We've experienced some heavy rains and weather since then and the house has not leaked and held together perfectly. It does warm up pretty quickly as the sun rises, so we may upgrade to an auto ventilation arm, but for now we easily just open the vent manually and close it it in the evenings to protect our seedlings, which by the way are doing great. It is much roomier than I had expected and has accomodated a small work table and shelves. Do I recommend this greenhouse???? Heck Yeah! Update on September 5, 2020 It’s been a few years and our greenhouse is going strong. This year we relocated it to make room for a pool project. I removed the screws securing it to the wood base we had built and carried the whole house to the new location. All is good, then comes Hurricane Laura. We live in North Louisiana by the time she came through she was still a strong Cat 1 Hurricane. Heavy rains , sustained 60 mph winds, and gusts of 75 to 90. The only damage was the vent came off, my fault as I overlooked that in our storm preps. I straightened up the auto ventilation arm and reattached the whole thing. Update Part 2. Going on 5 years now and I continue to sing this little greenhouse’s praises. In the last year 2020 into 2021 we have experienced two hurricanes in North Louisiana that blew through as Cat 1, winds 70 mph with higher gusts, tropical downpours. A tornado event with hail. Several inches of snow followed weeks later by a once in a lifetime ice and snow storm. And our little house has stood up to it all. No cracks, no metal deterioration, everything works like the day we assembled it. And our seedlings seem to like it too. Lightweight but tough and durable and it still looks great. Worth every penny and I still highly recommend it to anyone who needs a small backyard greenhouse.
