Should we go buy our hip size instead of our waist size?** A: The size for women is not really the problem. The size is commensurate with other women sizing. My wife is 64” 130#. She wears the medium. The problem is that women’s ski pants are tailored for the β€œbutt” to look good. These padded shorts take up a lot of pant room. So the issue is getting your pants OVER these shorts. The padded shorts are fantastic! They breath well and provide protection in all of the right spots. My wife liked them so much that she switched to board pants which provide more space. If you backcountry ski or even just off-piste, these provide earth and protection really well. **Q: Do these have an insert for a cup?** A: No, and there isn't any padding in the front. You'll need to wear a cup under these if you need one. **Q: Would these be good for paintball?** A: These would be okay for paintball. They have protection on the sides if you plan on sliding with extra protection on your butt if you mess up your slide. The only issue would be is that there is no crotch protection so if you get shot down there it would hurt a lot but if you’re okay with that then these are a good option. If you do want crotch protection I would recommend either the Carbon SC Pro Bottom (these are pants) or if you just want a shorts version get the HK Army Crash Slider Shorts. I do not recommend exalt since the padding areas are a little small. **Q: My son plays ice hockey can he wear a cup with these?** A: I would suggest a brief designed to hold a cup. After having back surgery I needed to reduce the direct impact of falls on my spine.These fit well over my base layer. The pads are comfortable and thick enough to dampen a hit. They could add a more dense or even plastic shield to the outside to disperse the impact more.The shorts have enough stretch to make a good fit. They look a little bulky under my boarding pants. I have 3nded up on the ground more times than I can count qnd haven't had so much as a bruise, and I bruise if you breathe too hard in my direction.I'm 5'9 210# and the large fits snug but well. The material has quite a bit of give so they don't restrict motion, but provide a mild compression and are still breathable if a little sheer.Just do yourself a favor and dont wear these on the outside, because the material is very delicate on rough surfaces, the butt is all scraped up not from falling, but from sitting on my concrete porch to put my skates on.I wanted to wait til after their first washing to leave a review to see how they held up, because I'm not hand-washing anything, and a lot of you probably arent either. I threw them on a warm/warm cycle with the rest of my stinky workout clothes and a low delicate tumble dry, and they washed up perfect.Just keep in mind that removing the high density pads through holes the size of a quarter is a CHALLENGE. I recommend labeling as you remove so they go back in the right spots.
