Stealth Jihad: How Radical Islam is Subverting America without Guns or Bombs

During the height of the Cold War many Westerners refused to believe that there was an "evil empire" intent on conquering the world. And if they did recognise the overt nature of Soviet imperialism, they were taken in by the covert operations. Thus agents of influence working in the West could use `peace studies', the academia and the media to push their agenda.In the same way today many Westerners do not want to admit to an Islamist threat, or want to play it down, or somehow blame the West for terror and jihad. And while they may acknowledge overt acts of terrorism, they are ignorant or gullible about covert jihad. Like the Soviets of old, the jihadists have learned that stealth operations can be just as effective as the use of bombs and guns.Indeed, they are achieving far more by these covert measures than by a direct frontal assault. And they are fooling many in the West, just as the various Soviet front groups did during the Cold War. Anyone doubting that radical Islam is actively working to subvert the West needs to read this book.Robert Spencer is superbly placed to tackle this topic. He has written numerous books on Islam and the threat that it poses to the free West. In this important volume he documents how the terrorists are winning without terrorism. Jihad has not been rejected; it has simply been temporarily suspended in favour of other tactics aimed at achieving the same ends.The goal remains the same, says Spencer: "the imposition of jihadists' ideology over the world". They have learned how to co-opt and subvert Western education, media, the legal system and even top levels of government. And they have been very successful at this. Says Spencer, "they are well-funded, well-organised, and persistent".Although this volume focuses primarily on America, it is certainly applicable to most of the West. Spencer begins by quoting the jihadists themselves, making it clear that nothing less than the complete victory of Islam and the total imposition of sharia law is what is being worked toward.He examines how radical groups such as the Islamic Brotherhood are working with "moderate" groups such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations to achieve their goals. Indeed, numerous groups which pass themselves off as moderates are really nothing more than front organisations for the radical jihadists and their hegemonic agenda.A major way in which the jihadists are achieving their goals of subjugation and victory is by using the rhetoric of racism, multiculturalism and victimhood. These groups have been quite adept at getting Westerners to believe that any criticism of Islam is "hate-speech" and "Islamophobia;" is racist and intolerant; and is at odds with a multicultural society. They even now call opposition to the jihadist program "terrorism"!Thus they intimidate their opponents into silence. And often the West is aiding and abetting this process. So fearful has the West become of appearing to be racist, bigoted, intolerant or judgmental, that laws are being passed and guidelines implemented which severely restrict genuine freedom of speech, all for fear of offending Muslim sensibilities.Religious vilification laws, anti-discrimination legislation, and "hate-crimes" acts are being passed everywhere. The effect is to silence critics of radical Islam, while allowing the stealth and not-so-stealth jihadists to push their agenda at will. Vocal critics of Islam such as Oriana Fallaci, Mark Steyn and Geert Wilders have all faced legal and governmental opposition.Consider the issue of education. Spencer documents how school textbooks dealing with Islam are presenting a whitewashed version of events, while being harshly critical of Christianity and the West. Muslims are demanding - and getting - the right to vet what our textbooks actually say. We are allowing this censorship to take place, and providing a platform for jihadist indoctrination and propaganda.And while Christian students are banned from praying, reading the Bible, or citing the Ten Commandments in public schools, pro-Muslim classes and course proliferate. In some schools there are exercises in which "classmates will become Muslims". They memorise parts of the Koran, adopt Muslim names and shout "Allahu akbar".Then there is the "Islamic Pledge of Allegiance" in private Muslim schools which begins with these words: "As an American Muslim, I pledge allegiance to ALLAH and His Prophet".This indoctrination is certainly occurring at university Middle Eastern Studies departments. Many are now funded by Saudi Arabia, and most now promote the Politically Correct, pro-Islam agenda. They have become "propaganda mills for the view that Westerners themselves, and Americans in particular, are ultimately to blame for the actions of Islamic terrorists".Spencer also discusses how Muslims in Western nations are increasingly demanding "separate but equal" treatment, refusing to blend in but insisting on living free of Western influence, values and law. Spencer also looks at how calls for sharia law are being realised, with a two-tier legal system springing up around the West. These developments are part of Islamic supremacist ideology which argues for the inferiority of anything non-Muslim.The book concludes with recommendations on how we can turn all this around. But in the face of the extensive, pervasive and ever-increasing stealth jihad, on wonders if these will be enough. Indeed one wonders if America and the West have the resolve to stand up for their Judeo-Christian foundations, and for freedom and democracy, or whether they will cave in to the onslaught of the jihadists.However things pan out, we cannot say we haven't been warned. This book certainly sounds the alarm. It is hoped that the warnings are read and heeded. If not, the future looks bleak indeed.

Robert Spencer describes an America that welcomes its mortal enemies into its midst, gives them equal time with our founders' ideals, and defends their right to hate us. Spencer is a veteran of the struggle against jihad; his previously published titles include "The Truth About Muhammad," "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam, and the Crusades," "Religion of Peace, Why Christianity is and Islam isn't," "The Myth of Islamic Tolerance," and "Islam Unveiled..." Spencer adds his voice to Islam's courageous adversaries, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Brigitte Gabriel, Mark Steyn, Bruce Bawer, Carafano and Rosenweig, Benjamin and Simon, Efraim Karsh, Mary Habeck. Take the time to understand Spencer's and these other authors' warnings; distill their thoughts; and join the resistance to Islam's malevolent spread in America. France and Holland are already past the tipping point and will have some form of sharia law within 50 years. If you don't think it can happen here in America consider the Minnesota taxi incidents of 2006.One taxi driver refused to pick up passengers carrying alcoholic beverages at the Minneapolis airport because to do so would "insult Islam." Soon other drivers joined the embargo against passengers with alcohol. The city tried a system using different colored taxis to accommodate the drivers who were and weren't willing to transport alcohol, but the system broke down. Within three months 5,400 passengers were denied service. The drivers claimed that they were defending "freedom of religion." In fact, Spencer shows that no one was preventing the drivers from practicing Islam. What the drivers were doing was "asserting sharia norms over non-Muslims." Had the precedent been allowed, what was to prevent drivers from refusing to carry passengers with pork products, or an unmarried couple?Spencer shows that it is the Muslim Brotherhood, founded in 1928 in Egypt by Hassan al Banna, which is directing these and other incursions into the unalienable rights which Americans blithely take for granted. The Muslim American Society is the Brotherhood's front organization in America, and the Council of Islamic-American Relations is its political arm. These organizations reject peaceful coexistence, reject moral equivalence, and reject pluralistic governance. Resistance to jihad is not bigoted, racist, hatemongering, or Islamophobic; it is self defense against the war Muslims are obliged to wage against us. For them to live peacefully with us is to insult the prophet Muhammad.You will not have to believe Spencer. His argument is most forcefully made by Islam's governance documents, the Qur'an and the Hadith (traditions of the prophet), and by Muslim writers and speakers themselves. Spencer quotes Islam's words verbatim and shows that there is no scope for compromise in the mandate to convert us, extract jizya (humiliating tax on non-Muslims), or kill us. These are their sole options and they mean business. America's very openness, its civil rights, its democratic ideals and institutions, and its tolerance create a vulnerability which Muslims use against us.Spencer hails Representative Sue Myrick (R-NC) for her ten point plan to counter jihadist activity in the United States. The Myrick Plan is a commonsense list of urgently needed tools and policies. No rational person could object to a single one of them. So who objects? The Council on Islamic-American Relations for starters. At what point will Americans wake up to the threat of Islamic jihad? When Islamic students in Brooklyn start wearing tee shirts emblazoned with "Intifada in USA?" Guess what? The school principal tried to defend the students' rights to flaunt their violent intents.Jihadis in America will continue to press forward with their "right" to subjugate us; is it their sworn religious duty. You will either accept their gradual incursions, this "stealth jihad," or you will find the courage to resist. The more of us who are exposed to the thoughts of Spencer and other banner carriers for the resistance, the less effective the jihadis will be. It's your America; keep it that way.

In this great introductory book on the subject, Robert Spencer writes about the other jihad; the jihad without guns or bombs. The project to supplant America (and Western civilisation) from within.Spencer explains that the difference between violent jihad and stealth jihad is simply in method,  the ultimate goal remains the same  (Islamisation of the US/West, imposition of the barbaric  Shari'ah  (Islamic law)). Both the advocates of violent and non-violent jihad wish to replace secular democracy and incorporate our societies into a caliphate (Islamic empire - sort of a 7th century Brussels). With these differences in mind, Spencer sets about explaining the process by which the stealth jihad works.America isn't likely to submit to Islam via terrorism. The smarter jihadists understand this, especially after 9/11. If you take down their building, they take down your country, thus a different method was required. Thus the method is by turning one law, one institution over to a more Islamically compliant way of thinking, at a time. Whether it's Muslim female only days at swimming pools, or applying for jobs which require a certain dress code, only to complain when hijabs are required to be removed, these are all for the purpose of making the West submit more and more to Islamic dictates (even ones not found in the Middle East).Spencer has obviously done a lot of mole-work, uncovering everything from the people and organisations behind the US policy not to use any vocabulary in its reports which could offend terrorists; to how these Muslim lobbyists attempt to work at a cultural level, linking resistance to their covert jihad to that of the civil rights struggle for blacks; to shari'ah finance and the threat to economic stability; to how Pakistan is at the forefront of the OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) push at the UN to make blasphemy against Islam a crime under international law.As an example, he starts out by giving a different analysis of an article penned by author of 'The Looming Towers', Lawrence Wright, when he wrote about a so-called moderate, Dr. Fadl, an al Qaeda mastermind who 'questioned' terrorism. While Fadl, and others, make the right noises regarding women's rights etc. elsewhere their statements in Islamic sources reveal a different agenda. And this is the key area of misunderstanding where the US State Department (UK Foreign Office take note) seem to wilfully blind themselves that the Muslim Brotherhood is somehow moderate.Spencer provides a list of high profile Islamic organisations from trials connected to the Muslim Brotherhood in America. These include Islamic Society of North America (ISNA); the Muslim Students Association (MSA); the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT); the Muslim Arab Youth Association (MAYA); the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP); and of course, the most prominent of them all, CAIR, the Council on American Islamic Relations.In light of the so-called Arab Spring, in which the Muslim Brotherhood seems to be taking over every country, this information takes on a much more sinister and troubling meaning. The breif outline of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan al Banna, and his plan for Egypt, now really puts this all into a terrifying perspective (this is Jimmy Carter's Iranian revolution 2.0).The Stealth Jihad plan, States side, includes establishing an effective and stable Islamic Movement led by the Muslim Brotherhood. Adopting Muslims' causes both domestically and globally. Expanding the observant Muslim base. Unifying and directing Muslims' efforts. Presenting Islam as a civilisation alternative. Supporting the establishment of the global Islamic State. As we can see, just a few short years down the road since the publication of this book, are progressing quite smoothly.Stealth Jihad is a great first book on the topic, but if I had one criticism, it's that the book is a little too easy. Having read Spencer's other book about  Islam and the Crusades , I felt this dealt with the material professionally, and in a convincing manner, but there's virtually nothing from Islamic holy texts or teachings here, no key concepts such as taqiyya (religious deception), which is unusual for a Robert Spencer book. As such, it's a nice, un-muddled prosecution of the extremists, but also a sad indictment not only of our media, but government and intelligence apparatus as well.With the mass of disinformation out there about Islam (also covered), it's pretty much impossible to get the proper facts from the media. In countries not on the media's radar, where reporting can't easily be brought to us (such as Lebanon, Mali or Nigeria), this covert jihad is far further down the road, with the 'stealthy' part of the jihad having served its usefulness, and the various governments are powerless to stop the more violent jihad from progressing, due to having wormed their way into their armies, governments etc. Spencer doesn't report on that, and again this is a shame as it further reinforces his case here. Coupled with more recent books about how Islamic countries are waging  economic warfare  on us, Spencer's book makes for an even stronger case. In Britain, with an all powerful left wing  media  and  political correctness  rampant, things work slightly differently.
