1 Review: Nostalgia mixed with discovery - A pleasure. What makes this anthology particularly special is its ability to create shared experiences across age gaps. As a grandparent I find myself smiling at half-remembered lines, while the kids discover the joy of poems. Review: Poems to warm any night - A delightful collection, I regularly read it to the grandkids. Sure, they groan, "Not another poem, Granny!" but then they giggle, smile, get all cuddly, and romp off to bed happy as skylarks. It's also a beautiful volume with thick pages, strong font size, and excellent binding.

Good read
I read this every night before bed. I might read the same poem a couple times because there are so many good one.

A poem is a perfect way to end a day
I bought a copy for myself and loved it so much I also got one as a birthday present for my sister. Some of the poems are more geared towards children, some are bleak and many are old favorites. My sister loves it as much as I do. This is a wonderful collection.

Beautiful dust jacket
So far I have enjoyed most poems I have read. I was disappointed that the lovely artwork is only on the dust jacket and a black and white illustration for each month. Just something I would have liked to have been aware of before I bought it.

I would highly recommend buying this book
My 10 year old daughter absolutely loves to open this book each night and turn to today's date and read the poem. We quite often read two or three each night by just picking random pages. A short paragraph precedes each poem giving the reader a little information about the author or why a particular day is special/significant. I would highly recommend buying this book.

A gem for the library
I was surprised this book is a few inches thick and contains such a wide variety. It's a British collection, but poetry belongs to the world and whether it's a subject we're acquainted with or not we can all relate to the emotions they evoke. Allie Esiri has done a wonderful job collecting a treasure trove of delights for the literary soul. It's a poetry collection for children, but I find all poetry ageless and sharing your favorites in the family will bring everyone closer.

Excellent compilation
Such a beautiful book. I love the diversity of subject and poet (Shakespeare, Collins, Whitman, Angelou, Tim Burton...). Each poem has a brief intro providing context- very interesting! I can't wait to give it to my son (voracious reader) for Christmas.

Read to children and challenge their language skills with a thoughtful anthology
I saw this book in Waterstones and instantly fell in love with it. Cheaper and delivered to the door made my choice of purchase obvious. This book comes before the partner book "A Poem for every day of the Year". The book is, in the main, child friendly (maybe 7+) , but prepare for lots of conversations for some of them and they're probably more read to children rather than read by them. Lovely range of silliness to quite serious topics from a broad spectrum of poets meaning you can expose yourself and your children to appropriate poetry choices that you may never have read before. The book is a lovely reminder of the importance of poetry and challenging language experienced by children growing up. Having a poem a day means that you can always get some guidance for what to read. There are very well and simply written introductory paragraphs for each daily entry that help provide context for the choice. Open a page and you get a wash of contentedness having read the choice for the evening. A great pre-bed read to delve into and explore whatever the date.

Molto bello
