The best of both worlds
This book explains the pros and cons of puree feeding and baby-led-weaning and let's you decide (without guilt) what you think is best for your baby. It was helpful for me to understand, so I could explain my final decision better to friends and family. I have decided to do baby-led weaning and no purees, but if I was somewhere where all I had was purees, I wouldn't have a problem feeding those to him too. I think the author did a good job to present both sides and help fight against the mommy wars. I read "Baby Led Weaning" by Gill Rapley and Tracey Murkett after I read this one, and I don't think it really gave a guilt trip, but it was nice to understand both options first.Yes it's written by the British and they call doctors "healthcare visitors," but I don't think that took away from the content. "Baby Led Weaning" does the same thing. In fact, we call it "Baby Led Solids" in the U.S. to avoid confusion with stopping breastfeeding. You keep breastfeeding while letting baby slowly learn to eat solids on his own.

Helped me decide
I wasn't sure how I wanted to start solids with my babe. I bought this book because I heard a lot about Baby Led Weaning but the pediatrician suggested rice cereal and purées. This gave me the information I was looking for without being biased. I appreciate that it gives pros and cons for both methods. We decided to use a combination approach. It seems silly to say but I didn't really realize that it didn't have to be one way or the other. We just do what works in the moment and my 5 month old is loving it.

Excellent Advice for Nursing Moms too
Even though this book is geared towards a European/UK audience, I really enjoyed how the author gave specific advice as to how much solids a baby is to eat as well as how much the baby should be drinking too. I found as a nursing mother a lot of the solids books failed to explain how often my son should nurse as well as how much solids he should be eating. Weaning Made Easy gave me a good guideline and peace of mind knowing that I was giving my son good nutrition for his growing body.

Great book!
I have enjoyed the blend between pureed food and baby led weaning. As a mother of a child who is exhibiting some allergic reactions to things, I also have found the chapter on allergies to be useful. It goes into more detail than some of the other books I have handy without being an overwhelming amount of information. I'd recommend this book to any parent who wants to make their own baby food and who doesn't necessarily think that all baby food needs to be a puree mush. :)

Getting my money's worth on these.
Used these for my 3 yr old son when he was 5 months old and now I am using them as a refresher course to start on my 6 month old girl.

Better science than that "other" BLW book!
This book is a great overview on nutrition and science-based weaning techniques. I'm a librarian, so facts and data are very important to me in making decisions about my child. Weaning in the context of this book means "starting solids" rather than "stopping breastfeeding" as it does in the States. The author presents all the options clearly, empowering parents to come up with a customized approach that is best for their child. I much preferred this book to Baby Led Weaning, which doesn't provide any scientific or nutritional information as a background. In Weaning Made Easy you learn why, starting at 6 months, babies need to start consuming iron, and how much salt babies can have. It was a great primer for us in planning to introduce solids to our baby!

Really great recipe book
THis book has been great for weaning my now 14 month old baby. The recipes are all easy and straight forward and with a great variation. There are loads of good recipes for finger food and this has been great for my little boy who loves self-feeding. Also good recipes for family meals and both me and my husband have found everything quite yummy too! There is also a fab selection of healthy treats, the choconana buns for example were a great success and as they had no added sugar it felt OK to treat my baby to them!In addition to the recipes the book includes good advice on what to feed your baby that I also found very helpful. All in all a great book and I wish I had had it when I weaned my first son 4 years ago!

Excellent book. Clear and informative.
I was about to embark on weaning my second child and thought I would brush up on what was required. Three years earlier with my eldest I had the Anabel Karmel and Babu Led Weaning books and although debate then seemed polarised I ended up muddling along with them, not following any particular plan, making food and also falling back on bought baby food items. I wish that I had this book then. It's absolutely superb, even for someone such as myself who had been through it once before and so wasn't a total novice. The information is clear, well reasoned and referenced and the tone is spot on, you get the facts, it's practical and even handed. I also bought the accompanying cook book which has been another revelation. I would go so far as to say that if there was one free book to be handed out when you have a child it should be this.

Not what I expected
I wanted a simple book to help me feel less lost and reassured with weaning but this made me feel more stressed! Her advice seems odd at times and sucks the fun out of weaning - which is should be for the first year! She’s very cut and dry with what’s wrong and right and it made me feel worried I hadn’t started weaning prior to 6 months. It’s okay for some bits but mainly I have just picked out what I felt relevant and largely ignored the rest!

Best weaning book
This is a perfect weaning book for parents with plenty of factual information and a very natural approach. The authors suggest a combined baby/ parent led approach which really resonated with us and worked well for our son. Highly recommend this and the cooo book that goes with it. Excellent!

Very informative for weaning
Have really enjoyed reading this book and has some great tips for weaning. I didn’t know much about baby led weaning but this book goes through baby led and traditional and how you could do a mix of both. I now feel a lot more prepared for weaning my little one as a first time mum.

Good read - presents the options fairly
I really rate this book. In my opinion (although I know others disagree) it presents both sides of the weaning debate fairly, albeit tinged by the authors professional opinion as she is a nutritionist (partly why I bought the book, as she should know more about it than most!). Other books I've seen/read are more 1 sided. Compliments the baby led weaning cookbook, which incidentally is also useful for anyone who is going down the traditional weaning route, but are at the stage of introducing finger foods and starting to include baby in family mealtimes.
