was a good watch
was a good story, the acting was pretty good to, some bits here n there that was a bit off, but all in all it was alright, if this was remade with some top tier cgi and a few less bad acting bits, it would easy be up there with day after tomorrow.recommended7/10

Disaster-geddon-quake!
Earthquakes, tidal waves, volcanoes, Las Vegas showgirls climbing out of sinkholes in their full on outfits (didn't even take off their massive head-dresses - that's dedication!)I loved this - Particularly loved the way it jumped straight in to full on end of the world disaster mode right from the off - no dilly dallying learning about the characters so you could appreciate their deaths, courage, stupidness etc. I realised afterwards it was because this is part two of a two part...thing...but no matter! You will soon pick up the plot. It's pretty obvious...you've seen it before anyway a million times...Just what I expected and I was happily unsurprised. Get in!

passable disaster film
The story and acting wasn't bad in this earthquake disaster film. Instead of building tension it starts with action as the earthquake happens and continues throughout. This is somewhat at the expense of character development. The best bit for me was the sub-plot of escaping the casino. I loved the nod to the 1972 Poseidon Adventure here, in fact I could have watched a whole film of this without the scientist tries to save America and multiple unrelated action shots. Overall the film was overly long and too diverse to fully fit together but I thought it great that it didn't have a happy ending.

Oh dear
I'm trying to figure out how 51% of ratings are 5* - I can't help thinking that my 2* is a little generous. This was probably a TV series now condensed into a long-ish movie. It is a formulaic natural disaster flick, a la 'Day After Tomorrow' or 'Deep Impact' - but without their quality, 'Deep Impact' especially. All the usual stuff, heroes die doing hero things, helicopters crash when you know the pilot would have been 500 feet higher at least, etc etc. The most risible thing of all is how the geologists had data at their fingertips - any mountain becoming a volcano, any lake or river heating up - and yep, just by flying above in a chopper the rising temperatures were read out, just like that (you need sensors in the ground or water). Not just that, but our intrepid geologists have tablets on their laps with instant infrared heat maps of all the hotspots, the pathways of a faultline opening up, its velocity, its direction and so on - I mean...for crying out loud. I can't recommend this drivel; it cost me 99p to rent, if it was 50p in a charity shop DVD section I'd say "don't bother".

A Very Good Film.
I collect classic films and give or try to give critical reviews. This film is excellent. One thing did get on my nerves at first though. The zooming in and out in the first half was not necessary. After that the film is excellent. Especially the special affects. So over all, a very good film. Just ruined by the constant zooming in and out. PC. 16. 05. 2018.

Sheer escapism.
Second of a two mini series made for television - would have been better if I was able to view the first of the two mini series first as in watching this you join half way through with no idea of the background leading to this point nor of the characters back story.
