very playable, great value
The Maple Katana is a very well balanced kendama. The curve at the basecup lightens the weight allowing for more technical balance tricks, and personally a better feel in hand. The maple appears to be of very good quality. I greatly appreciate that the ken and tama were within 2 grams of each other, with the tama slightly heavier. While I know that setups are not often balanced, I can appreciate when a company does it.cons:- cup depth was a bit shallow- bevel of ana (tama hole) is good, but could have more angle on it- extra string was not included as marked on the packagingpros:- great value for the price- incredibly well balanced tama/ken weight- sleek design with a different curve- plays great in hand out of the box, breaks in quickly

Not bad, but not what I expected.
Pros-Nice packaging and presentationKen feels nice in the hand and that swop looks fantastic. The maple wood is silky smooth, and so far it's taken a good beating. Very durable. It's also reinforced around the basecup to prevent chipping, which is a really nice feature.Excellent gunslingersGreat customer service. Owner is quick to respond with any questions you have.Cons-Bevel is bad for birds, stilts, handle stalls, wings, etc. Reminds me of a yomega bevel.Cups are a bit too shallow. I found my lunars to be sliding around on me in a way I never had problems with on any other dama I own, and the tama keeps falling off the big cup during turntables. Lighthouses feel harder to catch.Wormhole is fun for certain tricks but becomes gimmicky real fast.Final verdict-This company has been subject of much controversy for taking the two unique design elements of a Grain Theory- the swoop and the wormhole- and selling them at a more affordable price. If you ask me, this first attempt was a swing and a miss. It's by all means playable and it looks great, but there are too many things that bug me about its design. If you're still looking for that cheaper GT alternative, I might wait for a version 2.

the best I've ever seen
I have been playing kendama for a while now, and have been through many different damas. my friend showed me your company when you posted your first picture of a katana and thought "just a fake GT." Then i saw some videos and other things about the katana and thought i might cop one. The day you started selling i purchased your ash katana. The grain is unreal, the best I've ever seen, the swoop makes this dama feel beyond perfectly balanced. I have yet to try the wormhole but I'm sure its great knowing these perfect damas. the cup sizes on here are great and this SLAYS gunslingers like a true samurai. This kendama is worthy of its name as a katana and any ancient ronin or samurai would be proud to slay this. It is FAR BY the greatest kendama i have ever owned and i have owned a dama from most major companies. I recommend this kendama to any level player. Not a fake GT. Not at all. This is a ronin. This is a katana. This is the best

I'm only at beginner skill level but I know I have a great kendama when I like the sound
This Premium Ash Kendama delivers that premium "CLACK" sound! I'm only at beginner skill level but I know I have a great kendama when I like the sound. Every wooden kendama I get, I always perform around the world just to hear the "clacks" on all the cups and this kendama does not disappoint. I'm aware of other brands that make similar kendamas but I like having things that not a lot of other people have and always willing support small brands. Also, they got an awesome logo! I'm very grateful to own this kendama from Ronin Kendama and looking forward to learn new tricks with it.

Fair price for such a great kendama
I've had my katana for about 2 weeks now, and I've jammed it everyday. It has incredible balance as advertised, they matched the weights fairly close, and this thing is durable! I've dropped it a few times and played endlessly on it, yet there are few dents and scratches on the ken!The only downside for me is that the tama is made of 2 separate pieces of woods, so it makes it look a bit less premium but that doesn't change the playability so its no big deal. And just a thought: it would be awesome if you could sell the ken separately as an option. Keep it up! I look forward to seeing future products.

Great shape, but tama is split?
Almost everything is good to go. Awesome shape (similar to GT of course) and at a great price. The only thing stopping me from giving this a 5 star review is that the tama looks like it was split in half or just two pieces of wood glued/clamped together before being turned into a ball shape. Sounds nit picky, sure, but I fear it will split in half one day. Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.Aside from the tama, the ken has a great shape and plays pretty well. Small bevel, not really my play style, but I can adjust to it.

Excellent dama. Well made and feels good in the hand. No scale on hand, but the the weight distribution seemed on point, with the tama being slightly heavier (if I had to guesstimate id say maybe 2-4 grams heavier) which is no problem for me since I prefer a tama heavy kendama. Clack is clear like music and the balance on this thing is unreal. The Katana is worthy of its name and fit for a samurai. Cop one while you can.

Love it 10/10
I've been playing kendama for half a year, and have been through many kendamas. This Katana right here though? This is a game changer in the kendama community. Love the swoop. The playibility is so comfortable. The shape is different. The bigcup is different than your average kendamas. The tama on this thing is very unique. Haven't had it for to long yet, but i can assure you that this kendama is one for anyones skill level. MUST COP
