Good performance and excellent build quaility
This is my first digital caliper purchase, I chose it based on the Amazon description, the looks, and the Amazon reviews. The caliper was received clean with no grease or oil coating. This is a beautifully executed instrument. The fit and finish are flawless; it opens and closes very smoothly, no hesitation or play is detected. It has some heft but also has good balance, it is made entirely of metal (stainless steel); even the three control buttons are metal. The LCD display is large and easy to read, it doesn't have back lighting. I really like the black background printed scale on the caliper, it is easy to read and looks classy. The scale is printed on a dense plastic film inlaid into the main caliper beam, it looks to be much more durable than one just printed on the metal. The caliper came with a plastic case, which although is not fancy it is solidly built and has adequate room for the caliper, extra battery, screw driver, and instruction booklet. I may add a couple pads so as the caliper is held tightly in the case. I like the auto-on and auto-off display features, which should extend battery life, it also has a manual on-off button. Changing the display from mm to inch/decimal, or to inch/fractions is easily done with the push of a button. Replacing the single button battery simply requires removing a cover which has two screws, a small phillips screw driver and an extra battery are included. I have no way to verify the accuracy at this time, but expect it will be more than adequate for my woodworking and basic mechanical applications. I feel this caliper is an absolute bargain at this price point, and it has a 2yr warranty.(The AREW must be selling well as the current Amazon price is now $7.00 higher than I paid only 2 weeks ago; it's still a good buy though.}

Great Digital Calipers
AREWTEC Electronic Digital Caliper 6 Inch/150mm Stainless Steel, DCN15AI was happy to replace my current digital caliper with this set which came in a nice light duty case to keep them clean and protected in your tool box. One of the nicest features is being able to switch units of measurements from 'milimeters/inches/fractions' to match the project or convert numbers while in use. To switch, just press the 'mm/in/F' button for a very clearly displayed reading. The calipers have 3 commonly used features; inside/outside/depth measuring option on the tail end. The battery is easy to replace by removing the covers 2-screws on the face. The caliper are good quality and comes with everything you need to get started on your next measurement project. Some handy uses; sort out drill bits, determine a hole size for a bolt or compression threaded insert and the list goes on. I have grabbed these digital calipers many times since receiving them and I'm sure you will also. Photos attached will display unit/convert options; sorry...Amazon wants to flip one photo.

How Do I Use This?
Apparently I am not the target audience for this tool. The manufacturer assumes you already know how to use a digital caliper. Although the box came with a small pamphlet labeled "operating instructions", the only instructions were on how to wipe it clean and install the battery. The pamphlet had a parts chart (so small I had to use a magnifying glass to read it), some of which I didn't know what were ("stepped measuring face"?), but no indication of the functions. There is a depth gauge inside the measuring bar, but I don't know how to access it or how to use it if I could. It appears to be well-made (in China), but I haven't been able to find any true operating manual online, either. This is for pros, I guess. Silly me. I'm used to tools that have actual manuals, at least online. May have to send this back as useless to me. (I'm including my lack-of-skill level so as not to deter people who DO know how to use these things.)

From a legally blind person stand point and a beginner woodworker
I’m starting to get into woodworking for fun and I figured I should get one of these. After reading a lot of other reviews and looking at other brands I felt this one would suit my needs. I like how sturdy this is, it is well built from what I can tell. Not a lot of plastic. I like how you can move the wheel on the side to dial it in better and make smaller movements (i hope that made sense LOL). I also like how you can change the units of measure. Since I’m legally blind I do have a hard time seeing the small text on the display but that just comes with having bad vision. I can see the larger text on the unit though. It would be really i usefull for a blind person like my self if it would speak the measurements as you dial it in. All and all I give it a 5 stars out of 5. I feel it is most defiantly worth the money. Have a blessed day and be safe.

Junk
This is a revision to my former review. I used this product for a short while, and then, it became apparent that the measurements were off. I could never get the product to turn off reliably. It uses a small ir44 (?) button battery that has very limited capacity. Given its performance, I threw into the trash bin.Recommend buying one that has a c2032 pancake battery, readily available.

Overall nice product - sometimes thumbscrew is touchy.
Very easy to use an overall accurate. I tested on things with known measurements and it's spot on. Sometimes the thumbscrew slips at an angle making the measurement off by a hundredth of a millimeter - just have to be careful with it and everything works fine. For the price I didn't expect this device to be as accurate as it is - so I guess the thumbscrew quirk is bearable.

Total waste of money.
Piece of crap. As accurate as a lump of mud. Measure the same thing three times, get three different readings every time. Pick one and hope your in the ballpark. I don’t build in the ballpark, I need dead nut accuracy. If close enough is good enough for you then go ahead and buy this piece of garbage. It’s your money.
