The Birth of Soul by Ray Charles

I thought I was getting the 3 disc box set "The Birth Of Soul" in an mp3 download. Instead, it is only 20 tracks. My bad for not examing the contents of the download before paying for it, but they shouldn't have the same title for a different collection in the same page for the box set.

The sound on the early cuts is sketchy, as would be expected with early-to-mid 50s recordings, but this set is absolutely the best of Ray Charles' music. The later records were great, but he never displayed the same grit when he was at ABC.

The title is no empty boast, this set covers the birth of soul. Ray Charles and his band deliver one blues tinged with gospel hit after another on this fantastic collection. This album covers Ray Charles's Atlantic R&B recordings from 1952-1959. These are years of innovation and discovery for Ray, and consequently a couple of the songs on the set are a little odd (like his jazzy "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean.") His biggest hits (with the exception of "What'd I Say") aren't on this collection, they would come later. Even so there are so many masterpieces on this that it's a must own collection.

Wow! Got this today...I new it would be good being Ray....but not this good....the man could sing a menu and make it sound good....like the others have said...must have.....

When listening to music of today or pretty much anything since Rock 'n Roll came about, everything is based on blues and soul music. When learning to play it, you will realize where it all comes from.

Every time I play these discs, I find myself wondering how someone could be so brilliant so consistently. Lots of material, almost all of it stunningly good. Lots of fun, too. You absolutely can't go wrong with this set.

It's music that speaks straight to the soul, you'd have to have a heart of stone not to enjoy the music on offer here.If you like this then I would also recommend the complete country and western recordings to see where Charles went after he had finished inventing soul!

Sehr schöne Box. Sie beinhaltet 3 CDs. Aufnahmequalität sehr gut. Remastering zu dieser Zeit auch Referenz Qualität. Für 2015 könnte man das Produkt ebenfalls remastern, um den heutigen Hörgewohnheiten sich anzunähern. Sehr gutes Booklet!

収録曲、音質に関して徹底的に比較した訳ではありませんが。これは買って大丈夫！レイチャールズの魅力に他ありません。聴いて、そう判断できるかを大事にしてます。一曲一曲掻い摘んで聴いたり、漏らさずコンプリートしたいなら話は変わってくるかもしれませんが。このまとめ方はとても楽しみ易いと思いますよ？コレクションと言うよりは、ガシガシ聴けて楽しめる。3枚ぶっ通しで、素晴らしいです。

側面にとんがった硬いものが、当たったのでしょうか２か所めくれた傷がありました。梱包はプチシートでグルグル巻きにしてあり、その部分にシートの破れた後がなかったため、発送時には傷があったものと思われます。値段が安く中古品ですので、仕方ありませんが前もって状態がわかっていればよかったです。中身に問題なくて何よりです。それでも評価very good とは言えないです。これは感覚の違いと思うしかありません。今後ともよろしくお願いします。
