10 mins a day a lifetime of joy
I purchased 10 minute workout after first borrowing one from the library. It impressed me with its simple concept and could see the reasons for the exercises so decided to invest in a copy of my own. Apart from the exercises there is a wealth of knowledge and insight into the dilemmas of learning the guitar.

great book!
This is by far the BEST book I have seen to help learn or improve on the guitar. If you want to get better on guitar buy this book and do what it says.

Great book with good info and exercises
This book was exactly what I was looking for. It has a good write up on different guitar playing techniques and then a series of work outs that seem to help my guitar playing.the only suggestion would be to use a spiral bounding so the book would lay flat on the music stand. I would have given it 5 stars with a spiral bounding.Note: book is not a song book, but works on your technique.

Good idea, interesting subject, too small of a book
How can one learn from a book you can't put on a music stand and see? I am older now and my eyes are not as good, but I like learning about the guitar. I love the idea of the book but it should be bigger and bound so that you could place it on a music stand and not have to hold each side down with something so it won't collapse on itself.

Actual Workout is Brief
I felt compelled to write a review even though I just received the book when I saw it was 108 pages of Computer 101 and only 26 pages of the actual workout, 18% of the entire book!!This book should have been titled Guitar 101 with A Few Exercises.

Want to be better guitar player ? then get this book !
As a 20 year sometime strummer of guitar, I had long put off getting around to the practice necessary to improve. David Mead's book is just what I needed to set out on the road of learning and improving. The core 10 minute exercises are challenging but satisfying and very well structured and the wealth of advice and guidance in the general sections really help. David's pointers and remarks are full of common sense and experience, especially on the difference between practice and noodling.David will also reply to email questions which is really helpful to sort out finger trouble.A brilliant book.

Useful Reference and a great workout
This is a useful addition to the armoury of anyone who wants to play guitar or to seriously improve etcGood for both beginners and intermediate..in fact even an undisciplined semi advanced player could benefit a bit.Although it clearly says "Acoustic" in the title ....it works just as well for an electric player to be honest. I have alternated between and Acoustic and Electric .depending on my mood and time of day.Section 1 is "Everything you need to know" .....and is good reference stuff .good to dip into occasionally as wellPart 2 is the Workout section .which is really why I bought this book.I've been playing (rather poorly it has to be said) for some while now. and am very undisciplined when it comes to practice sessions. This book is without doubt the answer.the exercises are novel and build up nicely. Its easy to assess where you are as there is a rating system,.......and it literally is 10 mins a dayeach exercise is 2 mins a go.......5 exercises in each setGreat for practiseGood to guage how you are doing against a standardGood for finger dexterity and independancerecommended

A really excellent guide spoiled by poor choice of font size
I have many books on learning to play guitar, and most appreciate that Joe/Jane learner will, at least at the start, be interacting with the text/media fairly closely, and will have set the typeface accordingly. However, and very regretably, this "workout" would be more suitable for readers who are Borrowers (See books by Mary Norton).I found it frustrating to read such small close text with one hand, whilst having my guitar "at the ready". In fact, I found it frustrating to read the text at all - if I got past the point of wanting to throw the book at the wall, I felt like I had to do eye exercises to bring my vision back to normal.Whoever sorted the layout for this book really needed to care about the intended audience. That being said, the text is excellent for me (a chord thumper who wants to become more proficient) and one should persevere in order to benefit. Now where did I put that magnifying glass...?
