Was looking for a book on adoption a Found this little treasure on Amazon; it’s a beautifully penned book and so easy to read and explain

This book opens a child’s eyes and mind to wide idea of family. I am happy for her to learn that the world is filled with uniqueness and I hope she respects the diversity. It should be a part of every school curriculum.

A must for every child!!

ABOUT THE BOOK - The Family Book is a board book with nice, thick, good quality pages and colourful pages. There are not more than 8 pages comprising of 1 or 2 sentences which are easy for children to read and understand. No grammatical errors found and simple English language used. Pages are slightly glossy but not over the top. The Family Book is all about making young minds understand for different families people have - be it BIG/SMALL FAMILY, JOINT/NUCLEAR FAMILY, Stays together with the family/Stays away from the family. Some Blessed with both parents-some with single parent, Some having 2 mom's and 2 dad's to some having stepbrothers and step sisters to step mom and step dad. But yet all of them together strengthen the family and it's always good to have family around. Its a beautiful way of conveying message through this book to young children especially if parents are facing any personal issues or maybe bring up topics like separation anxiety if child is going to boarding school or many other instances that one can relate with in the book. The book comes to your rescue to an extent through which the child might get assurance that's it's okay to be away from parents, it's okay to live in a nuclear family or joint family and so on. But Family is most important and that we are happy only when our family is around. AVAILABILITY - Was out of stock. But ordered once was available. But guess the book sells real quick. So keep checking at regular intervals. PRICE - It's a good book but I personally feel it's little expensive. Could have been much reasonable. There is a page that says some families has two moms or two dads. It's up to you to decide if you want to get it.

This book was read at playgroup, and I ordered it on the spot. Fantastic at illustrating differences and similarities in families at a level my 2yo loves. The bold pictures and bright colours are captivating. This two mum family approves!

A smart way to show kids that families comes in all shapes and sizes and can be different from the classic nucleus family set up

The Family Book by Todd Parr is excellent. I bought it for my 4-year old twins who have been asking about different families, to explain the concept of family and the various families they will encounter. This book is very simple, in a great way: I had read other books which had complicated concepts, too many pictures and were ultimately confusing. This book, on the other hand, shows a celebration all of kinds of families, showing how each is special in their own way. It helps as a basic way to kick off discussions with kids about families and the various types of families which exist, showing all are special, no matter the style, race, color, sexual orientation, etc. I would highly recommend this book to all parents.
