Dragon Tarot Deck

Good deck, 95% good design, but a little iffy on quality
I didn't want to get this deck. I love dragons but the Celtic Dragons Tarot's art was much more my style -- based on the picture here, it appears much more modern and bold. But... every time I went past it, one of the spirits I worked with kept pointing it out and it kept shouting 'pick me! pick me!' until I finally got it.I expected it to take at least a week to ship...... and it was here literally two days after. I guess my spirit was just that excited to use this deck, haha.Upon opening this box, it is a nicer deck than the box image would have you to think. The images are simple, but effective. They don't particularly illustrate the meaning of the cards super-well, but the LWB that comes with it works just fine. The LWB actually even has the information on how to read the cards reversed, which is something I haven't seen in any of the other 5 decks I own.One pet peeve with this deck, design-wise, is that each of the minor arcana suits has color-coded dragons which make it easy to tell the elements and difference between the suits.... the coins, earth, are green and have trees in the background, the swords, air, have blue dragons with bubbles in the background, the wands, fiver, have red dragons with fire at the tips of each wand......... but the cups, representing water, with water in each picture..... have green dragons, then a couple black dragons, then silvery-blue ones. If the artist had stuck with his theme of color-coded dragons, or even if he hadn't color-coded any of the others, it would have made my OCD much happier. One other thing, that may just be my deck, is the quality isn't the greatest. While still printed on cardstock, my cards feel kind of flimsy and therefore don't fit together too well when I try to shuffle them together. That is the one thing that really does bother me. I worry about damaging them from shuffling too hard.... Also, the images are a little bit pixelated. It appears as though it may just be the artwork itself, as though the pictures were drawn with colored pencil on heavily-toothed paper, although in some pictures of the cards online I can't really see this defect. It isn't noticeable if you don't look too closely at the images, though it does make me a little sad because the images could be so much more bold and powerful without it.Overall, I like this deck. If it were printed on heavier cardstock, I'd be much happier, but alas I'm certain this deck will work for readings just fine... and my spirit that made me get them is ridiculously excited, so I'm sure they work, haha.

Print quality not ideal
I was a little disappointed with the print quality. It seems to vary from card to card, with a couple of my cards having some slight visible misalignment between the color plates. The result is that they're blurrier than they'd have to be. But even the best cards are not as sharp and clear as other decks I've gotten from U.S. Games. (This one says "made in Italy"... I guess it was printed in a different place.)The cards themselves are exactly what I was looking for. The dragon art is nice, but not phenomenal. The amount of detail varies; I love the Ace of Coins for example, but many cards default to having heads in profile rather than fitting better with the pose, or have wings or necks in nonsensical positions. (Bad wing anatomy bothers me, I can't help it.) But overall it's a charming deck.A big part of the charm is the sort of nostalgic old-fantasy-art vibe, so I imagine this might be too "cheesy" to some people. The cards each have the alchemical symbol of the suit overlaid in each bottom corner, which seems a bit redundant. It's very easy to tell what suit you're looking at because the dragons are pictured in the air, water, earth, or fiery regions. There are other times when the symbolism is a little heavyhanded too... for example the Hermit has a large compass above him and a smaller one on the ground. The element symbol will sometimes appear in the picture even though it's always in the corner too. That sort of thing.

Beautiful artwork. Dragons. Tarot. What's not to love?!
This is a wonderful tarot but I wouldn't particularly recommend for a beginner. Knowledge of Rider Waite Smith (RWS), Thoth, and/or Tarot de Marseille will help one to get a better grasp of this deck.Beautiful artwork. The Empress and The Star are both particular favorites. The four elements can clearly be seen in each suit: Coins (Earth), Cups (Water), Wands (Fire), Swords (Wind). The dragons serve as friendly guides and are very endearing in some of the cards, helping you navigate through this deck. The little white book is helpful understanding the artwork in the major arcana. Minors less information, so I employ numerology in addition to the elemental associations and Intuition. This deck will grow on you if you give it a little attention and take the time to connect.Enjoy!

Dragon Tarot Cards edition
I am just starting out with tarot. This is a beautiful deck if you are into dragons as I am, which is why I purchased this deck. There are good and bad points about this deck. Although I am able to find cards to represent myself and others, most cards are hard to represent something other than a person. The suit cards are VERY difficult in using as a representative of a time, place or thing. It is hard to read the cards (as a beginner). I have also found that the meanings of some cards differ greatly as compared to the general meanings of the Rider-waite deck. I wish I had begun with a more simple deck. However, I do enjoy the artwork of this deck. My favorite card, which is "My Card" is the Ace of Wands. I have noticed that for each person in my life that has chosen a "personal card", just by looking through the deck without knowing the meaning of the cards, they always seem to come up with their "zodiac" card, except me of course. :-) This is a beautiful and memorative deck but I recommend that beginners stick to a more simple deck to learn with.

Great deck for dragon lovers!
Being a dragon lover I absolutely love this deck. Love the art work and the imagery. I also have a waite rider deck but the dragon tarot is a little easier to understand. I'm a beginner in Tarot and I originally wanted to stick with my waite-rider halo deck but this one kept calling out to me so now I'm starting with two decks. Only complaint I have about this deck is that the cards dont seem all that sturdy which makes me worry with long term use. Overall I LOVE this deck and if you're a dragon and fantasy lover you will love this deck too. If you're not then I wouldn't bother.

Much Better than Expected
There are a lot of reviews on here that say this deck isn't a good one for beginners, well this is my first deck and I've had no problems with it so far, it works fine for both its purposes: as a divinatory tool and (more importantly) as a deck for playing the sadly often overlooked French Tarot card game. The cards in themselves are beautiful and are colour schemed so that it is easy to distinguish between suits, there isn't an overload of symbology, just one or two symbols per card on the Minor Arcana (but the traditional load of symbols on the Major Arcana), this makes the divinatory process perhaps a little simpler for beginners, since they are likely to be relying on the accompanying booklet for their first few readings (as I did) in order to familiarise themselves with the cards' meanings rather than trying to add their own layers of meaning when they first start out. I ordered the accompanying book (which is yet to arrive and so am unable to comment on) because I am very interested in dragon mythology, but people who think they need to buy the book to be able to read the cards don't need to buy it, as the cards themselves come with a very helpful booklet with simple card meanings in, ideal for beginners, however, if you are after more in depth meanings of the cards, then I recommend getting the book as well. All in all, a fine product for anyone who is interested in any aspect of Tarot, and it features dragons as the main attraction, what more could anyone want?

A must for dragon lovers
This deck is a classic. Its longevity has proven it. In spite of the pips having ornamental rather than descriptive imagery, I find that the Dragon Tarot deck reads really well. It is a must for Tarot-reading dragon lovers.
