Love this Manga!
Originally experienced TenTen as an anime back in 2005. Never forgot about it and decided to watch it again15 years later on Amazon Prime when it was recommend to me. What I did forget about the anime was that I forgot that the end of the anime ended in a cliffhanger. I decided then and there to look up the manga. Thank goodness Amazon was selling the uncensored version of it and I pretty much snatched them up, quickly. Two volumes in one is always a good bargain. This is such an absurd story line, but Funny as hell. TenTen does a good job of being able to switch back and forth from being over the top and hilarious to being deadly serious. If you have seen the 2004 anime, then you have pretty much read the first two volumes, as the anime pretty much follows the story line very closely, with only minor changes. The illustrations and panels seemed to be very clean and easy to follow. I'm not disappointed in my purchase.

Oh! Great!
I'm so happy that a non-edited version of Tenjo Tenge is finally being released and had to pick this up in support of that. Thank you, VIZ!(rant unrelated to this release)I was a fan of the Japanese version back in the day and picked up some random volumes to enjoy the art. When the CMX release came out I picked up the first one and was shocked by how much was altered. My friends and I counted something over 100 different edits that included panning, stretching, flipping and cropping panels. I'm an artist and have drawn comics, and I was really offended that the art of the comic page was given so little respect. I understand that the US release was being timed with the less-racy animated adaption, and assumed they were trying to match age ratings, but still. Anyway, we wrote the publisher about it and I never bought another.Happily, VIZ snapped up the rights when CMX went under. America wins. (Okay, rant over.)The art in the first half of the book is a lot rougher than I remembered, but Oh! Great quickly gets into the rythm and starts pushing out some beautiful panels more consistently later on. The plot is a bit silly, but fun. If I looked at it objectively this thing is probably more a 3, but VIZ gets a star all to themselves staying true to the original. And for giving us color pages for cover art.

That was lack luster
When I first getting in manga and anime, this series was one of my first and at the time I loved it. Now? It's clear that my love for the material was based more on the visuals than the storyline, a generic shonen trope at best. If Naruto and risque drawings are your thing, this will definitely scratch that itch.
