Every Last Crumb: Paleo Bread and Beyond

Paleo-ish. Try the cheese crackers. They're the best.
First off, I don't follow a Paleo diet, but many Paleo recipes eliminate ingredients that I can't have, so I tend to use a lot of recipes that are of that persuasion. I have tried several recipes from this book and am a member of the author's online recipe club (which I recommend), so am familiar with her methods and the results I get from them.Pros:-The cheese cracker recipe (also available in the author's Club Angell) is the best cracker recipe ever and better than real Cheez-Its. I have only used cow's milk cheese for this recipe (i. e. they're not Paleo). I think the book is worth the price for this recipe alone.-The photography is beautiful and the book is nicely laid out. Photos for every recipe make me happy.-The ingredients (with the exception of baking powder, more below) are well-explained and substitutions that can be made are clearly stated, which is very useful. Sources for the ingredients are also listed.-Gram measurements are given, which is my preferred way of baking. Volume measurements are also given, but take my advice and get an inexpensive kitchen scale! I haven't looked back since trying the scale way.-Potential for several go-to recipes (bread, waffles, crackers, etc.)-Helpful notes on certain recipes.Neutral:-White rice flour. Like I said, I don't follow a strict Paleo diet, so this doesn't bother me.-Gums don't seem to affect me badly, so the xanthan and guar are also not a big deal to me. The author does mention in a few recipes that you can eliminate the gum, which will of course affect the texture (also mentioned). They also are not called for in every recipe.Cons:-For a Paleo-ish cookbook, I thought it odd that the fact that most baking powders contain cornstarch wasn't mentioned. It's easy enough to look for a homemade baking powder recipe online, of course, but I thought that would have been a nice addition.-The recipes are for the most part quite good, but some are maybe a bit hit and miss, at least to my particular tastebuds--coconut flour can either be wonderful or too coconutty/grainy, for instance. Of course, every cookbook is going to have recipes that different people don't care for.Overall, I think this is a great resource with some yummy recipes. I think the author's online recipe club is a good supplement to this, or vice-versa. Brittany is doing things with a Paleo-ish bent that make me very happy, but I will say that not every recipe has worked for ME. It might work for you.---The following are my opinions of the recipes I've tried. Notice I said MY opinions. People's tastes tend to vary quite markedly, so your opinion could be completely different from mine (or my husband's, who, admittedly, has enjoyed everything I've made from this cookbook). It can be helpful to see different reviews, though, which is why I typed this long thing up.cheese crackers: A-maz-ing. I make them all the time. One of my favorite recipes ever. I will note that I tend to have to bake much longer than called for in the recipe. (I originally got this from the author's online club which is how it's so tried and true for me.)naan: Pretty good. It's a very decent flatbread that has an almost cheesy taste to it. Best warm. I had to eliminate the garlic but I bet it's even better with it (because, garlic).chocolate chip cookies (almond flour version): Not to my taste. I'm not sure if it's the coconut palm sugar or what, but they just don't work for me. I have made them twice to make sure.english muffins: I'm not sure on these yet, but I enjoyed them. They're quite yeasty, which was kind of nice after not having any yeast-made anything in forever, but they seem like they need maybe a slight modification of some sort? In any case, I will definitely make them again and go from there. I would recommend getting the English muffin rings mentioned in the recipe if possible, since the aluminum foil ones are a pain to use.monkey bread "cupcakes": These were ok. I think there's too much baking soda, because they tasted somewhat strongly of it. With modification, I think these would be very good (I mean, cinnamon and sugar--hard to go wrong with that combination). I cooked the caramel sauce too long and it was amazing. (I should probably mention that I've never had "normal" monkey bread, so it's possible that the soda taste is intentional and I am just not aware of that.)orange cranberry bread: Quite good. Also good with raspberries. A nice go-to for brunch, coffee hour, etc.oyster crackers: I really liked these. They were very good in a chicken broth soup.circus animal crackers: These are yummy. I've never done the white chocolate frosting because I've never been up to making the dairy-free white chocolate, but I want to try it.rice flour bread: I just took a loaf out of the oven and it's yummy. I will add a bit more salt next time. Very happy with it! Edit: I used maple syrup in place of the honey (which I can't have), which I think makes this recipe vegan. Also, no maple flavor. Just good bread-y flavor.

Words Can't Describe How Happy This Book Makes ME!
I really LOVE this book! I just recently started my journey into the paleo lifestyle, but wanted to have options for treats and breads. This book delivers. If you're a strict, strict paleo, don't bother with this cookbook. This is a cookbook that's perfect for people who need grain-free and dairy-free options and those paleos that are open to having options for the occasional croissant and cookie, etc. It's obvious that the author, whom I'd never heard of until I saw her cookbook on Instagram, poured her heart and soul into this book to create alternatives for us sensitive folk. The book is beautiful. The pictures and details about recipes are great. She also gives you both the gram measurements and the cup measurements. I did buy a scale and used it on a couple of recipes. I definitely recommend getting one. You can order them on here for fairly cheap.Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies - These were a win! An absolute win. I used chocolate chunks, but would recommend using mini chocolate chips.Extra-Crispy Paleo Waffles - OMG. These are WAY better than regular waffles. AMAZING. I will never crave a regular waffle. These are perfect. Double the recipe and make extra. I frozen them and reheated them in the toaster oven and they were GREAT.Sawmill Biscuits and Gravy - Yum. I overcooked the biscuits. They don't quite brown like regular biscuits. I'm pretty sure they would have been really soft and delicious if I hadn't left them in the oven for so long. The gravy was super good. Next time, I plan on using more sausage.Red Velvet Cupcakes and Cream Cheese Frosting - These were a miss. I made them twice. I think the fact that I didn't put any food coloring made these dry... I don't really know. But they were more like brownies instead of cupcakes. And the frosting... It didn't quite set up. Oh well. There are plenty of other recipes to try so I've given up on these for now. :)Overall, I'm so happy. This isn't just a good cookbook for us grain-free folk, this is a GREAT cookbook for everyone! :) Is it weird to be in love with a cookbook? I recommend this for yourself and for your friends.

This will be your favorite cook book
My book arrived today and I was very surprised by the outstanding quality, great presentation, great cooking instructions and great photos of how the dish should look. I've not made anything from it as yet but I've had a good read through and it looks amazing, it's gonna be my favorite cook book for sure. I'm not strictly on the paleo food (paleo food not paleo diet, don't like the word diet) but from keeping to it 80% of the time I've lost 2 stone and seen a massive change in my health so I can't wait to get going with this book. It as loads of fresh ideas so I no longer have to look on the Internet for new recipes to try. If you're thinking about buying the book think no more and buy yourself and your family a copy it really is a great book. If you're thinking of changing your food to paleo do it but remember paleo isn't a diet, diets are boring and hard to keep to and something that people do for a week then order take away cos the food is rubbish and leaves you hungry, paleo food easy to cook, easy to find the ingredients and all about eating great tasting food. Go on treat yourself and you'll feel 100% better within 2 weeks and you won't have a single day where you feel hungry.. STOP DIETING AND EAT PROPER FOOD

Truly amazing - a must for all of us with allergies/intolerances!
Got the kindle version, as it was far cheaper. I always prefer a book but the price difference was so great, and you never know whether it is worth it until you try it!Well, this is amazing! All my cooking is gluten free, and most is grain free. I didn't need another cookbook with recipes which never contain gluten anyway, it just annoys me. This book is about all of those things we can't help craving sometimes. Store bought items contain rubbish and taste like rubbish, so we do without. Well, we don't have to anymore. If you have a restricted diet it is more expensive and it does require lots of different flour substitutes. Brittany mostly uses either almond flour (which I tolerate in small quantities only) or coconut flour as well as tapioca flour/starch and potato starch. Simple for those of used to this way of life. I have already made the yeast free mini bagels which are incredible and easy! I'm going to try the grain free bagels with yeast next, and will freeze them as a very occasional treat. I'm sure they will be fabulous too! The chocolate chip cookies (coconut flour version) were absolutely fabulous! My daughter is something of a chocolate chip cookie expert and she said they were the best she's had, and she has no dietary restrictions! I look forward to making English muffins and pizza, which I had given up with after too many disasters! I will probably work my way through the book! I can finally have cinnamon rolls again Christmas morning! I make them every year for the family but I haven't been able to join in for the last four years! Brittany's look easier than the gluten laden ones I make! Yay! I'm happy! Buy the book - if you have food issues like me and occasionally want to have something 'normal' such as bread, rolls, baguettes, pizza, cake, brownies, cookies, pancakes, waffles etc. - buy it now!!!

Paleo Friendly
All looks good. Haven't baked anything yet as you need to be prepared with all the ingredients as some are fairly unusual. Will be trying out recipes soon.

Important contribution to the GF world, but not very many low carb offerings ...
I was excited to get this book for my daughter and myself. She’s celiac, I’m AIP-Keto. It’s a beautiful book with gorgeous photos, but it won’t be much help to me. There are only a handful of recipes that are under 5 g carbs per serving, and there are many recipes that require flours I can’t use at all, or can’t find easily. I think it will be great for my daughter though, and I do really appreciate the love and effort that went into making such a beautiful niche-market book. I would love to give it 5 stars, but there just weren’t “lots of low-carb options” and that’s the line that convinced me to purchase it. The author doesn’t encourage substitutions, so I’m stuck.
