**Q: Is it comfortable?**
A: I used mine in my gmc Yukon. I believe it would need to be another metal material to use as a joint. Your mobility would be limited as well. My suggestion would be to not use car parts as your hips or knees go out. Cost wise it would be better, yes, but comfort and having to carry a grease gun after a swim or shower might be a little awkward.
