Works as they should, hard to get the dog to love it.
I purchased these in order to clear the hair out of my dogs ear and they work fairly well. I gave them a 5 star because they work as they should but for actually getting my dog to let me get the hair out well that's a 2-3 star issue. I purchased ear power to go with this as its to help grip the hair and that works well as well however using these to get the hair has become a trick. They are worth the try and if your dog lets you awesome however I believe you will end up like me and either going to the vet your just using your hands.

must have for doodle owners
This is really useful for doodle breeds when it's time to clean their ears. It's easy to use and affordable. It's also sturdy and long lasting. I've been using mine for about 6+ months. Must have!

GREAT!
Used it for the first time and it did the job. You will want the ear powder to stiffen that waxy ear canal hair. My SIL who is a dog groomer by trade says the trick is to get as much of the inner ear hair into the hemostat jaws as possible, lock it and twirl it, then pull quickly. The more you pick at it the more chance of getting actual ear instead of hair as the dog resists. I think she may be right. This is a tedious job if done a few hairs at a time. You need a really good light, especially at my age, that won't overheat the dog as you focus it over the dogs head. I am using my Ott lamp as it does not cast much heat nor glare into the dogs eyes. I've never used one of these before but had dogs all my life and that's five decades. I was able to pick up the technique the first time around. I would consider this an essential tool for dogs with inner ear hair. That hair just globs up with wax, narrowing and infecting the ear canal otherwise. The other very useful tool for dogs like this is Zymox, also sold here, the liquid cleaner and the treatment drops with hydrocortisone in case the ear does infect. A week of the latter used as labeled will clear up nearly any ear infection of this type. I also used the Zymox to remove the powder that went down the ear canal and a light rag to gentle dab the ear as far as I could see in without poking into the inner ear. This hemostat has little grips all the way down the scissor jaws which enable you to grab the hair and then it can be locked in place at the fingergrips.

They're so, so.
I purchased these to pull hair from my dogs ears as per the pets advice. She is a breed that literally has a ton of fur that grows in her ears making them retain water which was causing multiple repeated ear issues. These are squared off on the ends and I've had to be super careful so I don't scratch her. They also clamp shut and it is difficult to unclamp them. For my purposes this is not optimal as it means prolonging the process. My dog isn't fond of anything in her ear due to the frequency of her ear issues ... so I want to get in and out quick. Please rest assured this doesn't hurt her. If my baby girl yelped once the vet would be doing it! I do it so I can get a little at a time and give her breaks. Neither the vet or groomer have the time to give her what I feel she needs.

Great product for sewing and crafts projects! But I found them too small for pulling hair out of dogs ears.
Great product for sewing and crafts projects! But I found them too small for pulling hair out of dogs ears.I purchased these for pulling out the hair from my dogs ears, however when they arrived I found they are much smaller at the tip than I expected closer to 1/16", Tried them with hesitation but as my fur-babies move too much I was afraid I could easily hurt them so put them aside and ordered another type. The next day I had a sewing project to install bra adjusters to 35 thin strap tops for my niece and I could not have done this without these little gems! they are the perfect size for that project and a few others I have completed.

Fine for Grooming
I bought this to groom my dogs ears. It seems to work well, but I wish is didn't have the lock on it. I spend more time tring to get the lock undone. The size of these are perfect to put inside my dogs little ears.

Well made
The only thing I don't like about this product is that the handles clip together when I don't want them to and it causes a break in what i am doing with the dog and I have to readjust my hand on their head. It would be better if they didn't clip together. All in all, nice and sturdy.

Does the job
Does the job its suppose to. The only thing that bothers me is it hurts my fingers after awhile. I have since put some cushion around the holes for a bit more comfort. I use this to do my dogs ears which I hate doing bc it seems so mean but she gets ear infections if we dont remove her ear hair
