As someone who doesn't read poetry very often, I found this to be an incredibly moving journey, beautifully stitched together through poems. As desi-Americans know well, too many cultures, ideologies, and beliefs are pulling us in so many directions that we feel stretched thin as a result. This book really made me feel like I was not alone in this struggle for identity and meaning in a world so difficult to comprehend. Thank you and good job, Alyees!

Every poem in Masala Chai is beautifully written. Each one paints a picture with just words, and you can truly see that painting while reading. The poems flow very well, wether with rhythm or rhyme, and often end with an impactful closing line.Each poem leads into the next one which truly gives the reader the effect of reading a story. Which is exactly what Masala Chai is, and entire journey being told. The metaphorical recipe for a cup of masala chai is cleverly thought out yet also very relatable for South Asians.The Brew chapter is my favorite, every poem hits home in and sheds light on everyday challenges that minorities, especially South Asians, may experience growing up. The author has done an amazing job with this book and has a clear talent, and passion for writing. Would definitely recommend it and I absolutely cannot wait for the next book!

Masala Chai is a beautifully written book and the author hits home with every poem. It's the perfect tie between culture and poetry and warms the heart every reader! Each poem flows beautifully into the next and leaves you wanting for more. One of the best purchases I've made!

It took me a while to finish this small book. Every single page at the beginning had me in tears. The fact that I was able to relate to every piece on that first chapter, it made me feel like someone finally understood the struggle and pain. It was hard to get through at first but once I overcame and accepted it, the rest of the book made up for it! Such a good poem read! Thank you Alyees!
