A Promark original, Hot Rods drumsticks are constructed with 19 medium, premium select birch dowels that create a light sound. With a smooth grip for easy playability, hot rods have a bouncy feel and are comfortable to play with. The wood dowels are held together by a unique red plastic wrap near the neck of the drumsticks that provides a light sound with just enough texture. The wrap also improves the durability of the sticks. Review: Good Product - Exactly as advertised. Perfect for a softer, yet crisp sound. Will probably use them most during church Praise Band performances.
Review: Great Sticks - I just started playing with a couple of guitarists that play a lot of acoustic music. But even when playing their electric guitars they keep their volume way too low.....that in itself is quite surprising. Anyway, I tried playing quietly with regular sticks (too loud) and brushes (too quiet). These HotRods fit the situation perfectly. The red version is pretty close in size to my usual 5B sticks. I can not comment on their durability or longevity as I have only used them for 4 sessions. I suspect they wouldn't hold up well if you wanted to play death/speed metal quietly but then who would.

Anyway, I tried playing quietly with regular sticks (too loud) and brushes (too quiet). These HotRods fit the situation perfectly. The red version is pretty close in size to my usual 5B sticks. I can not comment on their durability or longevity as I have only used them for 4 sessions. I suspect they wouldn't hold up well if you wanted to play death/speed metal quietly but then who would.

At first I wasn’t sure how to get a good sound out of them and they sat unused. I started using them to just soften the noise while fumbling through new fills and got to really like them. They sound best after they loosen up a little. Now I rotate them into the set list for different sounds and aesthetics. They’re not very durable on the cymbal edges but that’s pretty obvious just by looking at them.
