Pirateology: The Pirate Hunter's Companion (Ologies) Review: Awesome interactive adventure book! - This is an awesome book! It’s like the pop-up books for young children, only for big kids (including parents). Great story, full of interactive parts to teach and inspire imagination about this pirate they’re chasing. I like that we can spend a lot of time investigating each 2-page spread. We read through, one spread and a time, and then just start the book again. Next time through, we notice something new. A great summer read! Review: Do it, you'll love it - You will be surprised. These books are great quality. So much to look at, there's education and imagination in every page. There's little surprises in each section. Honestly, do it, they have such a vast collection. The fairy one went to my 11 year old niece who loves it, wizard one to my other niece who loves Harry Potter and she is fascinated by it, I have the dragon one, my son has the ocean one. The books are thick, colorful, and there's just so many neat things on every page. Worth every penny I promise, and I hate most things I buy.

So Much Fun.
These books are so darn fun! For kids, teens, and even (who I bought mine for!) husbands! lol My husband is a huge pirate fan and he loves this. I was bummed that it didn't have the compass that spun on the cover, but my mistake for assuming so. The story is really good too. Easy to read, not tiny reader level, but mid-level. (maybe 10+) A male pirate chasing a female pirate! Totally engaging and silly - but its lends a great deal to the of history of piracy through amazing illustrations that are beautiful for everyone, but even much more so for little ones! There are really cool little foldouts and things you can open like envelopes and notebooks. There are maps and a whole bunch of interactive items included in the book. But the book is still really durable - I'd be careful of tiny fingers pulling and grabbing these details, but the idea behind them is super fun.

Interactive book that rivals video games. High Quality
Bought it for my 11 yr old grandson. He absolutely loved the mystery of the book with all it's secret pockets of treasures. I have purchased some of the other "Ology" books and he has loved every single one. He proudly displays them on his bureau and reads them again. The books are of superior quality and the type of legacy books that will be passed down to his own children one day. Worth every penny and more. Do not hesitate to purchase this book

Fun pirate themed book
There was damage on the front cover, I would have returned the item but my nephew was so excited I kept it. I just hope it won't get worse

Shiver Me Timbers....you'll love this selection.
My pre-teen grandchildren love these "ology" series books. I bought a couple of them last year for Christmas and they went over really big. This year I thought I'd do some more of them and this was one choice. I have looked it over and found it interesting myself (not being much informed about Pirates). The front cover on this is really attractive. There are two (plastic) red jewels, one on either side of the brightly colored and well depicted compass. And there is a real compass in the very center, sure to please and delight the younger set. How many kids have even seen a compass this day and age, yet followed how to use one. Cover is not black as it looks in the ad. Is a very dark brown made to resemble leather. The "ology" books are arranged so that topics are very often covered in separate areas of the pages. I have to help the kids read the script boxes, because (unfortunately in my opinion) cursive is no longer taught in our county public schools. And here is one example of how we are cheating them by doing so. There is discussion and pictures of parts of the ships, different historical pirate figures, different flags, pirate weaponry, old world cartography, types of navigating tools, a bag of gold dust, and a gem just to name a few of the points of interest. There's even a page with cording attached and types of knots and how to tie them . The paper is a medium brown made to look like papyrus, and each of the pages is double thickness. I made pirate costumes for the family to wear to the Ren Faire during pirate week this year, and this will be a resource book for us as well as just plane fun facts. If you kids, or adults (great coffee table addition) who have even the slightest interest in pirates, this is sure to please. I was really lucky to find this book in the used section of Amazon books, under like new and it really is. So I got a great buy on it as well.
