This is a lovely and nifty little tool for laying out accurate dovetail joints. It allows scribing of dovetails at four ratios: 1:5 and 1:6 for softwood, and 1:8 and 1:10 for hardwood. Very solidly made from CNC machined aluminum. My only complaint about the product is that the instructions are vague with respect to which faces of the guide are where. Once you “get it,” things are fine. The “external” faces are 1:5 for softwood and 1:8 for hardwood, and the “interior” faces are 1:6 for softwood and 1:10 for hardwood. I have found that the exterior faces are a bit easier to use.

Clarke brothers products are an excellent value and are extremely accurate. I have several of their products that I use regularly and I just recently received the dovetail marker. It's well made just like everything else they make and works extremely well. I've never had any issues with any of the items that I have gotten from them and will be getting more. So feel rest assured when you get anything from them that you are getting the best.

The dovetail marking jig is a solid well crafted piece of equipment. I'm super excited to get started laying out, cutting and expanding my hand tooling skills. I contacted Clarke Brother's with a question regarding the jig and how to determine which angle was which. And they were super quick to respond and helpful. They sent me a pic that quickly resolved my newbie ?'s. I'll post the pic they sent in case others have the same question I had. As of yet, I've only marked a few tails. But will cut them as soon as I can get some shop time. If I ever need to buy a dovetail marking jig again, I'll definitely buy the Clarke Brother's jig. Its solidly built and seems like it'll last for years to come.

It seems to be a well made tool. Durable. High quality. And good value for the money. I just got it. And I’m not in the shop now. I’m working so haven’t tried it out.

Handy little marker; Great for setting proper angles repeatedly. Well machined, with notched 1/32" depth increments. Can't beat the $14 USD price!

The block portion of the tool blocks the pencil line so it's hard to mark around the corner of your dovetail to ensure a continuous line, especially on the inside ratios. Not bad quality but not an ideal design.

Been doing dovetails for more then 30 years. Bought this to replace my sliding T-bevel. Very nice quality and really well made.
