If you're trying to prevent the dreaded recurrence of C. diff, Advanced Multi-Billion Dophilus from Solgar is a must. I had also used prescription probiotics, but I believe these work more effectively with a much wider coverage than the prescription probiotic (which was very limited in coverage and did not include Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG or Saccharomyces boulardii).

I don't take probiotics all the time - I felt like I don't need to take them constantly, and a doctor I see (who practices functional medicine) told me that I don't need to take probiotics all the time. It's important to eat well - plenty of vegetables and other forms of fiber and not much junk food - to keep your digestive system healthy. In other words, probiotics can do only so much if a person isn't eating well.But I buy a couple of different bottles (chosen from brands that have a good reputation) about once a year or so. Also, I have a colonoscopy every five years because of my family history, and I always take a bottle of this brand and another brand (that has some difference bacteria) after each colonoscopy. I had just finished taking a bottle of this and another brand after my last colonoscopy, when I caught a severe case of gastroenteritis. Either it came too soon after the colonoscopy, or it was just a severe strain, but several weeks after being sick, I just couldn't get back to normal. So I bought another bottle of this and a bottle of Pure Encapsulations probiotics. Now, having finished both, I'm doing well again.

Been taking this for a 2 months now and like the other reviews state, it has definitely changed my body! In the last 5 years we have learned more about the Gut Microbe (Flora) than we have in the last 50 years. Tons of studies are starting to see how important your gut microbe really is and it can change your life from getting rid of depression, to clearing up acne or in my case, controlling how oily my face is (I'm one of those Asians with an oily face). For as long as I can remember, I have had an oily face and after taking for a week, my face is no longer too oily and is at a normal amount now. Also, this brand has certain bacteria other brands do not such as L. Rhamnosus GAG (also in Culturelle), L. Acidophillus and B. Lactis. Now do be warned, it took my stomach about a week before finally getting used to taking this. During that week I had stinky farts and a random poop schedule. But after the first week my stomach settled and everything has been great ever since! Also, I did the milk test this passed the test. I suggest always doing the milk test to make sure you didnt get a bad batch.

I spent 2 weeks reading thousands of Amazon reviews on many probiotics brands, finally bought this and Culturelle. One Amazon customer reviewed another expensive brand, and complained that it doesn't solve his/her acne as well as Solgar Advanced Multi-Billion with l.acidophilus, b.lactis, l.paracasei and l.rhamnosus gag.I spent the 3rd week researching the above bacteria and found lots of benefits with the famous L. Rhamnosus GAG (also in Culturelle), plus studies showed reduction in oil glands with L. Acidophillus and B. Lactis. in controlling acne. I bought Solgar for my 13-year-old daughter, and VERY HAPPY that her acne cleared up within a week of daily use. She refuses to wash her face after school, so I wiped her face with a wet-paper-towel. Her acne has been bad for the past 2 years (despite washing face twice a day) ... finally her face is clear. Solgar is in a capsule, so it's easy to cut open, and sprinkle the powder in a liquid, for kids who can't swallow pills. Another added benefit: much less underarm odor for my daughter, along with clear-skin & reduction of 75% acne. The probiotics decrease oily secretion, plus bring skin-pH to healthy range (below 5) .. too acidic for bad bacteria to thrive.

It's a normal product, not fantastic, but good. Having tried many brands, I would say this one is better than many other on the market .

I've been using American-made Solgar products for 50 years, and have always found their quality, efficacy and purity to be excellent. A good product from a good company.
