It can go well past 2 years, but if it smells funny then toss it! Additionally freezing or refrigeration does not extend shelf life. **Q: Why did barilla discontinue selling large shells.why my question it's not being answered i'm curious why large shell got discontinued.** A: Well, I'm not sure, but it could be because they weren't selling enough to warrant making them. The large shells aren't available in our small town, so we stock up from Amazon. If you're a pasta nut, you'll find them great for lasagna casseroles, pasta salads, chicken and noodles, and even Mac & Cheese ... I like Barilla pastas best and will pay a bit more for them.
