Once you go black there's no going back
I used roll-on Herculiner to refinish the red Rhino Liner, spray on bed liner, that had faded to a dull transparent color in places. This stuff sticks to everything it comes in contact with so ware gloves and clothing you won't mind throwing away when your done. "IT DOES NOT WASH OFF". You have to stir this stuff often, I used a hand drill with a paint stir about every ten minutes to keep the particles from sinking to the bottom of the can. When fully cured it has a very course finish, about the same as 30 grit sand paper, makes a great non skid surface. It only took one coat and 3/4 of the gallon can to refinish the old bed liner on this 8 ft. bed but it would take twice that and two coats to cover a painted surface. Once you start on a surface don't stop to finish later, not even for a few minutes or you might see where you stopped and started when you finish. See the pattern in the photo of the truck bed bottom surface. I have no idea how durable the Herculiner is so I can't comment on that. I did get some spatter on painted surfaces that I was able to clean off using Break Clean. If you have to stop you can save your brush and roller by putting them in a plastic bag and work as mush air out of the bag as you can and tie a string around the handle to keep air out. Read and follow the directions it should work for you, good luck.

Works as expected, looks great too.
This was a lot more work than i first thought it would be, but it was all worth it in the end. The liner makes the bed look sharp and covered the paint damage left by the old plastic liner. After running out of material on my second coat there were still some spots where I could see the red paint below the liner coating. I was doing a 5' bed on a small truck (Chevy Colorado 2005). manufacturer says 1 gallon does a 6 ft normal bed. I would suggest getting more material than recommended if you want to make sure the pain color is completely hidden by the liner coating. Still, I'm absolutely happy with the end result. It's just the OCD within me that wants every speck of red covered. So far, it's holding up good. a bit did rub off the tailgate because I had a ladder wedged in there pretty tight, but overall, it seems quite durable. Another benefit is that toolboxes and such tend to stay where you put them in the bed. the liner helps things stay in place. Nice when driving but can be frustrating when trying to pull things out.Beware when masking off areas for the painting. the rollers love to throw the material. I started with minimal masking thinking this would be enough. the paint flips everywhere as you roll, so I had to add a lot more paper and tape to make sure the liner only ended up where I wanted it. Other than that, I followed the instructions provided and the project turned out great.
