I only use the smallest pointy tip on beeswax and sticky wax to attach wax vents to models and fix up some mini beeswax candles. It works but I need to wrap the base of the metal tip with aluminum foil to reduce the heat loss. Without this insulation, it did not melt the beeswax even though I set the temperature to higher than 160 degrees C, but beeswax’s melting point is only about 65 degrees C.At first, I was disappointed thinking it did not work but noticed that the base of the tip (where it comes out of the black “wand”) was very very hot. I suspected that lots of heat got lost there. So I spread some cotton ball cotton inside a piece of folded aluminum foil. Wrapped it around where the tip came out of the black “wand.” A little rudimentary, but now I can set the temperature to 80-100 degrees C depending on how fast I want the tip to melt the wax, and within a few minutes, it is ready.I was trying to decide getting this machine vs. a cheaper thread zapper pen. I am glad that I decided to get this machine. I like the temperature control so it won’t be too hot and burn the wax or not hot enough to melt the wax quickly. Also love that it remembers the temperature last set. It’s kind of a lifesaver when I have not used it for a while and forgot the temperature.

If you live in the USA, the plug that comes with this unit will not fit. I didn't look closely enough at the photo to see that the plug has weird, thick, round prongs on it. I have asked the seller to provide me with a power cord that will work and they promptly send an adaptor, so it works fine. You can also purchase a standard computer power cord and it will work as well.Belkin 6-Feet AC Replacement Power CordI will update the review in a couple of months after I work with it and see how long it lasts, but I was happy with the seller's response to this issue.

Did not receive the waxer pictured. Received a variation, unfortunately it did not have the tips in the picture that I was expecting.

Works like a dream

I got this product on sale about a year ago, but it has still been a letdown. One of the two pen attachments broke pretty early on (maybe 4 months in) and wouldn't heat up any more (regardless of which port it was plugged into). Now there's something wrong with the second pen as well -- every time I switch it on, the device just reads ERROR and won't work. I tried cleaning the leads, to no avail. The device has been sitting pretty stationary this whole time and none of the wires have gotten kinked or bent. I flatter myself that if some wiring got knocked out of place internally, it was probably due to the durability of the components rather than to abuse of the device.Even before it broke down, the device was annoying due to over-emphasizing the audio component of its safety features. At least, I assume safety was the reason it made really horrible, shrill beeps every time I pressed a button -- so you don't accidentally heat it up too much and set something on fire? Unsure. Looking forward to buying a replacement that does not make shrieking noises.Two stars because I did actually manage to accomplish some work with it before it bit the dust.

Not impressed. This product arrived about 2 weeks late and is all scratched up and dented. It looks like it has been previously used, and is very cheaply made. Additionally, the company sent the wrong component for the wall outlet, and as someone in North America, I can not plug the unit into the wall. I am thoroughly disappointed. I wasn't expecting top quality given the price. But it would be nice if I could actually use it.
