Exactly what I was looking for
I'm updating my Class A RV, bringing it from that awesome 1993 Blue velvet and fake yellowish oak laminated cabinets to a natural hued and toned down version. That being said, this Contact paper is EXACTLY what I was looking for. It's not too thick, making it easy to "relaminate" the cabinet doors that have moulding, but it's not too thin either, I cannot see the old paper behind the new (albeit the new is darker than the old, that obviously helps a lot. What I'm getting at is that this is not a translucent paper, it's definitely opaque. The roll did smell funny. I work in marketing, and more specifically in printing, and thats basically what these smelled like - fresh plastic and fresh printing. I can't say it's a pleasant smell, but it did dissipate fairly quickly. The roll peeled off the backing with ease. The backing did get stuck a couple of times but I was going pretty quick, probably faster than I should've been to be completely honest.Only negative I really have about it is that even though it's a good thickness to work with, it does seem to rip easily once it's applied. I wouldn't use it for any high traffic areas, and I wouldn't use it for counter tops or floors. All in all, it's as close to perfect as I'm going to get, apart from replacing everything. (Because where would the fun in that be..!? (Just kidding... sort of.))

Can Magically Turn Older Furniture into Something that Looks Much Newer and More Attactive
This is a great way to spruce up an old table, bookshelf, or other piece of furniture. Although the wood "grain" pattern on this Con-Tact paper is not textured like real wood, it gives that appearance from a distance. The stickiness of the paper is just right, giving enough stick to hold in place, but not so much that you can't pull it off and re-position as you install it (which you probably will do). I've used mine on an old, metal bookshelf, and now that I'm almost finished with covering it, it really does look like a nice, wood bookcase, much more attractive than before. One of the issues, however, you have to take into consideration is to not be in a rush to install, and take your time to measure and develop a good technique for laying the paper so it will not create bubbles. This same paper can make a piece of furniture look unexpectedly nice, but it can also make it look like a piece of junk if there are bubbles, ridges, and mismatched sections. I use a pair of scissors to get the general size of the piece I want, with a little extra to work with. I start at one end and lay the paper as I swipe back and forth to reduce bubbling. I haven't gotten it perfect yet, but some of it has come out very good, and the more you do it, the better you can get at it. It's also important to note that there is just the tiniest bit of stretch in the paper which can also be used to help achieve a very flat, bubble-free lay down. And if doesn't work out right, just carefully pull it back and try it again: it's surprising how forgiving the paper can be with repeated tries. Another "trick" that I've used is to do just one part a day, and stretch the project out over a few days. Each day I can come back to the project without being too worn out with it, and the result is a better application.Overall, I'm extremely happy with this product. It's a project, that's for sure, if you want to do it well, but if you DO it well, it can come out very nice. My office looks so much better now with that bookcase now looking like it is made of cherry wood. An easy five stars!

Great brand name great contact paper
The color is right it is a very dark brown color as expected. I used it to line all my shelves in my kitchen and that is just wonderful it's stuffed well what you have to do is clean your shelves with a damp rag and some rubbing alcohol so make sure that they are very dry before you use the contact paper on them then it will stick just fine. I think people do not do this one step prep part and they run into trouble sometimes. If you do it it'll work and it'll be great. Just make sure it's completely dry before you put the contact paper on. That's my review nobody paid me for my review and nobody gave me anything for this review. Before then have a peaceful day thank you.

Tricky to install at first but looks great - - a few tips!
I ordered the cherry version of this paper to match the mission style red oak furniture I have in my living room. The colour is PERFECT. I have had black Klipsch speakers for a few years and it always bugged me that they didn’t match any of my other furniture in my Craftsman style house. I got this after seeing a few reviews for it and Im SO glad that I did! It’s tricky to install the first time, especially considering all of the corners that the speakers had. A few tips to install well:1. Clean product with Windex and microfiber cloth, then follow up with some tacky cheesecloth to take the small dust particles off.2. Peel off one small end to set your first corner. Make sure it’s straight, then slowly pull out the wax paper as you use a squeegee to get big air bubbles out.3. When you come to a corner, there are multiple YouTube videos showing the process for how to seamlessly cut the paper to look nice and rounded.4. When you come to the end of your box/ whatever you’re covering, cut all the little extra bits off. I used scissors and an X-Acto knife.5. Use a blower dryer or heat gun to slowly warm all the extra air out of the paper. i started at the top of my speakers so that I could push it down and out. Use the heat until the bubbles disappear. You might want to use the squeegee or a rubber spreader to do this. Some people said credit card, but that scratched a line in my first speaker so I switched to the rubber. That’s it! I went around and made sure all my corners were down and all the air was out before i put the speaker back together and set it up nicely.

More red’ish hue than desired
Was trying to match Ikea brown. This was to red/orange in shade. Returned/exchanged for a different color by the same brand which worked better.

Not an exact match to IKEA brown.
Your skill level will determine your success with this product. I highly recommend using a vinyl application squeegee. I wouldn’t attempt an installation without it, personally. I was able to completely cover a small white IKEA shelf with this product using a 36 inch ruler, a hobby knife, a cutting mat, and a squeegee. It took me a couple of hours because I was very slow and meticulous.

Can't complain
Works as expected, looks great when installed correctly but bubbles are quite difficult to remove entirely.
