Can anyone tell me ingredients in this?

The backing appeared to be plastic, but the part that touches your skin was a gel. I believe it is just a hydrogel, in which case it would be made up of synthetic polymers that absorb a lot of water.  So technically water would be the greatest component, followed by something like sodium polyacrylate or acrylate polymers.

Question 2

How do these compare to Lansinoh Soothies?

They are very similar.  I personally feel like Medela products are USUALLY superior, but I have used both brands of the gels and liked them both.  The Medela hydrogels do not, however, last as long as Lansinoh, which can be used for "up to 72 hours.,"  The Medela ones state they can be reused for "up to 24 hours."

Question 3

How do you get these to stay on?  Do they just stick on their own?   Is the non-skin side sticky (will it cling to a nursing bra?)

Both sides have a sticky part on them. I used one side on the inside of my bra. Under the clear sheet is sticky too, and the instructions say to run it under cold water to reduce the sticky if needed. For me that was no help as removing them was excruciating. I then left the clear side on the gel pad just because it did provide limited relief and I did not want to waist the money I spent on the pads. They are in squares, so as it cups around the breast and nipple the material crinkles. The crinkle on the nipple also hurts.

Question 4

Anyone familiar with the medela soft shells for sore nipples? Which of these products is better to protect nipples between pumping?

I have used both and much prefer the hydrogel.  The soft shells were uncomfortable, not at all discreet, I have an over supply and would drip into them and it would spill everywhere any time I had to take them out (which is a lot when you are nursing).  I felt like they did nothing to heal my crack and just kept my clothes from rubbing against them.  The hydrogels actually help heal the cracks and make it comfortable to wear a bra and normal clothes.  The hydrogel is more expensive since they only last 24 hours but I threw the soft shells from the hospital away and have been using hydrogels for the last couple of weeks to heal a severe crack.
