Greatly simplifies power wiring
Works perfectly. Installed on in my trailer and one in a portable HF transmitter box.You have a load output, battery input, and power input. It automatically selects the power input to the load if it is available and supplied charge current to the battery connector. When the power input fails, it immediately switches to the battery input. In my installation, the battery is on an AC charger so the charge current is not needed. The equipment does not appear to "see" the switch happen.I have a DC power supply connected to the main input of this unit. If the AC goes off, the unit switches to battery backup, when power is restored, the unit switches back to the input. The wiring was greatly simplified vs. using a switch and there is no interruption of service.

Works Great!
I've got it hooked up to a Gel Cell deep cycle battery. It switches to battery without interrupting power to my equipment. Also, no charging noise on the Ham Bands that I have found.

Lower price alternative
My older unit by a known company turned stupid after many years, so I decided to try this version. So far, it is doing the job with my car and the radio's separate SLA battery. Only time will tell how lok this one will last.

Does the job but needs improvement. I guess you get what you pay for
It does the job charging and provids seamless switching from power supply to battery, but could use some improvement. The voltage drop is expected, but still a bit of a drag. I have my power supply set at 14.2v and am reading 13.8v in the power distribution block.Charge current really is a drag if you have been on your battery for a while. The most I have seen is 0.5A, which is great for battery life, but not if you want to top off your battery as quickly as possible. An added ability to be able to charge your battery at a different rate and/or taper it off as the battery gets full would be nice.As such, the power gate would need to determine the amount of current draw and adjust accordingly as you approach it's peak threshold of 30A continuous, such as stopping the charge until power consumption has dropped to a more reasonable level. In short, a smarter charger would be nice, but this is a cheap charger and you get what you pay for.

So far so good
So far so good! A little about my setup. The power source is an MFJ 30AMP power supply with variable voltage. The battery is a 12V Bioenno battery, 40AH. I've been testing this for a few days and it does charge the battery no problem. Of note, I had to turn up the voltage on my PS up to 14.8 to get it to charge the battery properly. After that adjustment, no issues. It fully charged the battery and the charger stopped. I did a test while my two ham radios (FT710 & 2730A) were on. I turned off the PS and the battery kicked in to power the radios with zero problems. So it seems so far this does what it's supposed to do. At this point, I would recommend this. If anything changes, I will update my review.

Nice Lithium ion trickle charger
I purchased another trickle charger for my main Lithium ion battery and it's been working well so this is my second charger. Both have been working as expected

Uses battery if it has a higher voltage than the power supply
Voltage Dependant. If the battery has a higher voltage than the power supply, it will use the battery.

Built like a tank and works like a champ
I have this in one of my portable setups for HAM radio. I have a 20AH lithium iron phosphate battery in the case connected. Commercial power or not I'm on the air thanks to this awesome piece of equipment. Kicks the battery in fast enough to where your radio will not even blink when power goes out. I know there are other (more expensive) name brands of this they do the same exact job for double the price. The price on this one attracted me to try it, the performance of it convinced me that the others are just over-priced. This power gate does everything that the others do, just costs less.
