I loved these at first! They came in awesome packaging, and protected from the heat way better than the silicone holders my cast iron came with. Also, they look way more "adult" than the silicone, and I got lots of compliments on them.However, while cooking the stitching on the wider handle holder got too hot, and melted. Now it doesn't stay on at all and is super rigid. Its a bummer because that part of the set was my favorite. I had planned on giving these as gifts, but now I'm not so sure.**UPDATE**I returned the original set and received a replacement. The same issue happened with the new holder. My advice is don't leave it on the pan while cooking, and only place it on the handle when you need to hold it by both sides. Bummer.

I got 2 sets. One handle has finish stitching on the end and the other doesn’t. The one without doesn’t look as good and isn’t as durable because the liner is not attached to the outer leather. See picture.

Everything about these handle covers seemed great! You can tell they’re very well-made and durable and will last a long time if used properly. So I was very disappointed when I could not slide the long primary panhandle cover on my Le Creuset brand skillets. Before I purchased them I measured the width of the skillets long primary handle which measured 1.5". The item description states the cover for that hand measures 2", so naturally I assumed with being half an inch larger it would fit just right or a little tight. Nope I can’t get it to slide on for the life of me. I looked at their other options and there is another handle cover that measures I believe 2.25"- 2.5" but I’m afraid that still won’t be enough because the covers just don’t have a lot of extra room to flex. So hopefully someone from the company will read this review and maybe look at this brand and see if they make an option. Honestly I’m surprised because Le Creuset is not some unknown brand, they are very popular and pretty much the nicest and most expensive on the market. The secondary handle cover does fit but is a little too big. It seems like it will stay on the secondary handle but could slip off easy if you’re not careful. Again this seems like a great quality product that regrettably does not work for the brand of skillet I purchased. Hope this helps.

We were so happy to see the handle and assist handle set arrive.Leather was really perfect. The package it came in was even really cool. Was looking forward to using it for something else. But, sadly we had to return the set.The small ASSIST handle cover fit perfectly on our Lodge cast iron pan. The long handle cover was a snug fit - - but that is a plus actually. As you would NOT want it to be loose. And surely later on there would be some stretch to the leather with use.The problem was with the stitching on the long handle cover. It sticks out too far and is REALLY hard. There was just no way we could use it comfortably. My husband is 6'2" and has rather large hands. He could not find any way to use it. We tried every which way possible as we wanted to keep the set.Go ahead and give it a try. You may not have an issue with it. Gotta say - - it was quality, thick, beautiful leather and the craftsmanship was top notch! That's why I gave it 3 stars.

I have several cast iron pans, from 5” to 12”... and the heavier it is the more problematic it becomes when hot and in use. Lifting it and I always needed extra heat protection: oven mitten, but these are just for the right hand... and I am left handed... and the weight of a 12” cast iron pan makes it painful.These little leather handle holders makes it perfect for that pan alone, a 14” even more probably. They resisted heat quite well and like all leather it doesn’t “share it” when you hold it with your hands.Of course certain situations require oven mittens and the whole thing... being careful is mandatory. But at least now I have two handles to use while lifting the pan.Btw the pan alone is a big thing for me, but it has a cast iron lid too... geez! I bought the Lodge glass lid too because it was lighter... but I digress

These were beautiful at first. But I was already having doubts when the long handle was too tight to fit onto my pan and had to be pushed on, and then the short handle cover kept falling off. However, being handmade, I didn’t hold that type of varying quality against the, otherwise, beautiful product. Expensive for not fitting properly? Yes, But if it holds it to the job, that’s no problem with me.But this is the third time cooking with these, that the corner of the short-handle cover caught on fire and smoked up the house with an awful stench! The flame is often on low, too. I had purchased these as a luxury item for myself, and I am so disappointed I wasted my money on them. These are not cheap. I didn’t want them for decoration, and one of them for usefulness. I haven’t had any problems with the long handle catching on fire, but both of my short handles have.Do not purchase these if you plan on cooking with them!

This is the second set of these I have bought. I made sure to specifically search for hide and drink when I was looking to buy another set for another pan. The quality is great. My first set was only the long handle cover and this set has the helper handle piece also. I accidentally put my pan in the oven at 400 for 7 minutes with the handle cover on once before, and all it did was darken the leather (I thought it was a gonner, oops). These look amazing the more you use them, they eventually get softer and conform to your hand. I will only buy these as long as they fit the pans I buy, which are just lodge pans, nothing special. I know some pans have wider grips, so check that first. I plan on giving these as gifts this upcoming holiday season because I know how well they work (for lodge pans at least)

Thinner than I expected but still very well made. I would not suggest leaving on the entire cooking duration. Especially if you are working with a gas flame.

Feels solid...definitely full-grain leather...After using the product once, the tip of the handle holder supposedly shrunk making it impossible to use as it does not fit anymore....
